Looks like since Sony is hemorrhaging money all over the place and not charging for PSN use, guess who's left picking up the slack? That's right, the developers. And when Developers are being charged retarded amounts of mone to provide us with DLC, guess what happens to free DLC? Yup, not free anymore.

Just another in a long line of retarded business decisions by Sony lately.

Well, yeah. This is why the cost on XBL is passed onto the consumer and why they made demos come earlier to Gold subscribers.

MS know if they charge the cost onto the developer, less content will come.

Funky Fly 03-20-2009 04:54 PM

You get what you pay for.

Kane Knight 03-20-2009 05:30 PM

WHY ARE YOU ALL XBOTS!

CAN'T YOU SEE THAT SONY IS THE SECOND PLACE CONOLE!!!!

NNEEERRRDDDSSS

What Would Kevin Do? 03-20-2009 06:22 PM

I doubt this is having a huge effect on DLC, because honestly, most DLC isn't free, and even if those charge weren't in place, I doubt it'd make a difference. Microsoft doesn't charge developers, and I can't think of many free DLC's that Microsoft has that Sony doesn't.,

#BROKEN Hasney 03-20-2009 07:09 PM

True, but to little devs like The Behemoth, it probably makes XBL a lot more appealing that they don't have to pay based on how many people download the trial, just on the typical revenue sharing model.

Yeah, it's on the demos and whatnot that developer's really get boned.

Hell, Microsoft is bending over backwards to make developing games a wide open thing. Granted, you still have to pay for the XNA tools, but regular Joes are getting their games sold on Live. The only guy I can think of n the PSN who compares is Jonathan Mak and his Everyday Shooter game (which was actually free with my PSP.

Sony will learn one way or another, but they're looking stubborn right now (particularly Sony Japan). It's like they can't believe they're in last place for their own actions.

Funky Fly 03-20-2009 09:44 PM

Well stupid shit like making the Patapon 2 demo available to only those who'd already preordered it certainly didn't help them.

Kalyx triaD 03-20-2009 09:57 PM

Didn't Killzone have a similar program? That's pretty weak any way you look at it. Undermines the whole concept of demos right there. Just stupid business practices.

Funky Fly 03-20-2009 10:17 PM

Yeah, they're buying the game anyway. Demos are for the people who are unconvinced.

As already mentioned, that's not the real concern.
