WTF is up with double sided DVDs?

I don't get why they have that shit...

it just annoys me for whatever reason.

Boondock Saint 03-28-2004 04:06 AM

Yeah I hate them.

Boondock Saint 03-28-2004 04:07 AM

And I hate snap cases.

el fregadero 03-28-2004 04:17 AM

I hate them both.

Interestingly enough, when they first started to hype CDs, they mentioned that they would be "about 70 minutes per side." They decided against that for a few reasons, one of which is the durability of a single-sided disc.

Translation: The DVD industry just...Didn't...Get it...

Most of my double sided are widescreen/full screen double sides and movie/special features. They suck though, because it increases the chance of scratching or ****ing up the surface of the disc.

You know what I hate, those fk'n security stickers on the cd's and dvd's. I mean seriously, what's the deal here. Do we really need those things everywhere around the cd? I swear, it's like you think you've pulled them all off and can finally take a peak inside, but then you notice that you miissed one and you're denied. I do that everytime and it's not a good feeling. Yeah.....

yeah word, also it's easy to scratch up the case trying to peel those things off. and yeah double sided dvd's irritate me too.

Security stickers? Never seen that.

Anyway, when renting movies, I don't mind getting the double sided one because the full screen side is never scratched, so the movie has a much smaller chance of screwing up at one point.

Howabout the sensomatic labels? The ones that set off detectors and shit. They ruin the cases half the time, and I hate when they stick plenty of the things inside.

Loose Cannon 03-28-2004 01:47 PM

And then when I finally get the thing opened, sometimes I can't get the fk'n DVD out of the place where it is. I know you have to push down on that circle thing in the middle, but that doesn't even work half the time. Sometimes I have to wiggle the dam DVD around, while bending it, just to pull it out. Jesus, someone needs to do something about all this crap.

DaveWadding 03-28-2004 01:54 PM

Write a letter!

Kane Knight 03-28-2004 01:55 PM

Very few of the types of disc-holders actually work for releasing the DVD. It's annoying.

Smitty 03-28-2004 04:48 PM

I still think those little black security strips in dvd's are a way for the government to track you, so I rip them out and cut them in half. :D

John la Rock 03-28-2004 05:18 PM

ya I know they suck

Kane Knight 03-28-2004 05:33 PM

 That was pretty funny.

It'll do no good tho. they now have microchips about the size of a grain of rixe that can be used for tracking purposes. Watchdog groups are already worried about civillian practices.

Though, in theory, it wouldn't be too hard to locate and deactive the thing if you know how to look for an EM transmission. i mean, it'd be hard in some products, but most pants don't give off signals...:|

Kind of on topic, I bought some copied DVDs yesterday and I find it pretty funny how they even copy the copyright notice at the beginning.
