The Bret Hart appreciation thread

This isn't about who was right in November '97, or about his book, or who he is away from the ring. This isn't about if he's better than Shawn Michaels or Ric Flair. It's just about the Hitman, and talking about how awesome he was.

I've been watching some Hitman stuff on Youtube recently, he was really unbelievable. Even on the mic. I just saw how he reunited with Davey Boy and Owen in 1997, great stuff.

His in ring style was intense, it was even better than a guy like Benoit's whose style was too over the top. Bret was hard and physical, but he didn't hurt guys. When you watched him wrestle, it was ALMOST realistic.

The guy only had lke 5 or 6 moves in his repertoire but hit them perfectly, at the right time. His punches were beautiful, he didn't have a bob holly like dropkick but it was always done in the right way at the right time. The double elbow off the top, awesome.

I'd also love he he'd set up the russian leg sweep, sending the guy into the rope, punchin the stomach, and then so naturally hit the legsweep.

Favourite Bret feud has to be either with Austin or Owen, but he had a few great ones. Best match was probably with Owen at Mania 10.

Also, if you get the chance, look for Steamboat vs. Hart on youtube. It's from 1985 or 86 I think, great match.

Talk about the Hitman here!

I love the 1993 King of the Ring. 3 awesome matches with 3 very different wrestlers with very different sing styles.

HBK wouldn't mind this Bret guy inducting him into the H.O.F, he can't be that bad

Xero 03-25-2009 11:06 PM

Bret led the WWE into its more prosperous era. He was good for that.

Thanks Bret, for being a stuck-up dick. :y:

FourFifty 03-25-2009 11:07 PM

I'm going to assume this thread is not Kliq approved?

FourFifty 03-25-2009 11:08 PM

Speaking of which, where is that Hart loving IC? A pro-Bret thread without IC is like a day without sunshine, or a thread about some absurd armchair booking that will revive the industry and find a cure for cancer without Noid.

Xero 03-25-2009 11:08 PM

It is.

It's the Bret Hart Sucks Appreciation Thread. CBN just forgot a word.

Untitled (How could this happen to me?) - Simple plan

FourFifty 03-25-2009 11:11 PM

So should I post a "Not this shit again" picture, or a guy beating a dead horse?

Loose Cannon 03-25-2009 11:11 PM

Seriously. Bret's my favorite wrestler of all-time right there beside Pillman.

From the Hart Foundation to WCW, he was always my favorite. Peronally, I never rooted for a wrestler for a long period like I rooted for Bret. Even with Pillman, I really didn't like him until he was with Austin. I was a die hard Bret fan for over 10 years. My favorite period in wrestling was 1997 WWF with the Hart Foundation. Bret was at the top of his game in that year from his matches to his promos. I'll admit, Bret was average on the mic when he was a babyface. Very simple, not a lot of variation. But he cut some of the most memorable promos during that USA/Canada angle. The one standing out the most was the speech where he officially turned heel.

Anyway, great worker, so many great matches inside the ring.

Xero 03-25-2009 11:11 PM

Live it up 450, post both.

Ol Dirty Dastard 03-25-2009 11:14 PM

lol you guys don't need to be douches :p

I don't come and ruin your fun when you start projecting your love for tranny porn.

FourFifty 03-25-2009 11:15 PM

.............Hanso isn't even in this thread.

Xero 03-25-2009 11:16 PM

He's not even remotely connected to the Kliq.

Christ CBN, get your shit straight.

Xero 03-25-2009 11:16 PM

Bret sucks, by the way.

I hear you. I loved him early-mid 90s. He'd work well with anyone, even Diesel.

He was one of those guys that everything he did counted, he'd have you on the edge of your seat hoping he would win.

You are welcome to think that. Noone is going to give you a hard time for thinking that. Each to his own.

However, there is no need to be a clown, which you are being. :)

Xero 03-25-2009 11:19 PM

You don't know me very well, do you?

Zen v.W.o. 03-25-2009 11:19 PM

Bret Hart is a living legend who had done it all.

His promos while not being flashy were interesting because he made them come off like a shoot many a time. He forced you to become invested in his segments and feuds, because he was savvy as all get out.

His matches, well nobody has managed to get more out of guys then Bret has.

I'll leave some soap for others to wash his balls with, but for now this thred should be stickied so that people can come in here and appreciate the greatest wrestler of all time.

Don't believe I care to. You seem like quite a douchebag.

Don't worry though, I'm sure everyone's paying attention to you.

Bret was one of the worst true main eventers on the mic ever. Stop with the blind markism.

Self markism aside, Bret had some great matches in the 90's. Like I said, KOTR 1993 will always stand out for me because of how awesome it was that Bret was able to pull off 3 completely different matches in one night. Gotta give credit to Hall, Hennig and Bam Bam though, all 4 guys brought their A game.

Bret's life sure as hell didn't. He has made a lifestyle from bitching about one match for 10 years.

I'll give him all due credit. His five moves of doom were decent, and his run as the underdog was nice, but let's face facts- Everyone that HBK steps in the ring with gets overshadowed by HBK in the long run.

Um...

We're you trying to put me in my place there? Cause I was just making a joke neither confirming nor denying how good Bret Hart was.

Ol Dirty Dastard 03-25-2009 11:43 PM

I'm a Bret Hart mark to lengths unseen. I would probably fellatiate him given the chance.

I remember seeing him fight Yokozuna at Maple Leaf Gardens. I remember crying at 5 years old watching him on scrambled t.v. lose to Davey Boy at Wembley. Owen turning on him at the rumble and then him tying luger, and the crown pwning luger and cheering for Bret.

I'm super biased, I don't care. Everyone has that one guy they stick with through thick and thin. Bret is my boy.

lol you can have anyone of my wrestling toys... except Bret Hart....noone messes with the Hitman... :p

Sure it does. The latter part of his public career is nothing but bitching about one event.

I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't sweep something like that under the rug.
