This sorta worries me. Everything else is aces, though.

Xero 03-26-2009 03:59 PM

Seriously, this is fucking awesome. Any word on an offical US release or will it only be Japan?

Edit: Just realized it's download only. There's really no reason not to bring it to the US.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-26-2009 04:02 PM

It's download only, so no amount of modding your 360 will play it...

HOWEVER, what will let you play it is creating a Japanese XBox Live account and then getting a Japanese MS points card or a Japanese credit card registered to a JAP address.

That work around will be the only way to play it if it only comes out in Japan on both 360 and PS3 :(

#BROKEN Hasney 03-26-2009 04:10 PM

YO MIKE YOU MISSED THIS

If you guys haven't been following the thread in Victory Road, then you're probably clueless about this whole thing. Be sure to read the entire post. Read it slowly. This is all the information I have right now, and we may be getting more soon. Famitsu should be getting some media near the end of the month, but I'm not completely sure yet. Spike and GHM are being very nice to us right now. You should thank them.

There are 2 main story paths: Face and Heel.
There are multiple endings within each path.

Events take place both in and out of the ring.

Story sequences feature voiceovers. English subtitles will be an option.

The way you win matches will determine what happens in the story.

In addition to regular moves and finishers, certain "cinematic finishers" can be triggered during Champion Road matches. These are optional and will alter the story.

Also hot :D :D :D :D

I heard something about it needing a Gold account too, so it might be tricky if it doesn't come out in the US and Europe.

Funky Fly 03-26-2009 04:12 PM

That's way too much fucking effort for a single download.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-26-2009 04:12 PM

From the forum about HD:

And the game is Japanese only. No plans for an English release. We need to support them just like we always have. A lot of us have been importing these games for a decade now. We're not going to stop.

Some of you guys got spoiled with Fire Pro Returns.

They're giving us an ENGLISH OPTION for Hansen sake.
We should run with it and give them our money.

At least there's an English option by default :(

I would normally agree, but this is Fire Pro. I paid £120 for an import of X Premium on the SNES

You shouldn't do. I've bought Japanese XBLA stuff on someone elses 360 and it didn't need Gold.

Xero 03-26-2009 04:16 PM

Yeah, been reading the forum.

Really, if they went to the length of doing the US translation there has to be plans, at least internally, to release it in either Europe or the US. The fact that it's download-only must have come up, and doing the English translation just for Japan seems silly.

It almost seems like they're saying "it's in English, but you can't get it. You can pirate it, though."

Funky Fly 03-26-2009 04:18 PM

Dude, I like Fire Pro and all, but fuck getting a Jap gold account and importing Jap MS points for a single game. I'll wait for a US release. They brought Fire Pro R over, so no reason for them not to bring this over this on Live. I understand with PSN because they get charged up the ass for space on their servers, but Live is free for developers.

Funky Fly 03-26-2009 04:19 PM

Fucking hell, topic is too hot. Can't keep up here.

But you can't pirate it if it's download only on either console, that's the thing.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-26-2009 04:27 PM

Still, I'm so happy so rep for all just for being part of my joy :D

#BROKEN Hasney 03-26-2009 04:28 PM

However I will neg everyone to make up for it if it's announced that it's being taken over by Yukes for Legends of Wrestlemania 2D Arcade :shifty:

Funky Fly 03-26-2009 04:30 PM

Gawwwwwd. Don't say things like that.

Funky Fly 03-26-2009 04:31 PM

Actually, this just reminded me of the fact that 360s are region free. Any word on that wrestling series that AKI made post No Mercy coming to the 360. I'd definitely import that sumbitch.

G 03-26-2009 04:52 PM

I am happy for you all.

Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix MAX

That's it. They've now been renamed Syn Sophia and were responsible for that god-awful Ready 2 Rumble Boxing Revolution on Wii :(

Funky Fly 03-26-2009 05:07 PM

No, not that one. There was a game that used the AKI engine in Japan and it had real wrestlers I think. Fignuts or Blitz should know it for sure.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-26-2009 05:10 PM

*shrug*

Was the wrestling title any good, though? I mean, 90% of shit on the Wii is crap, simply because it's built more for the in-house developers.

On the same subject, any word on the "rebuilt" game engine? I mean, what it entails?

#BROKEN Hasney 03-26-2009 05:17 PM

Dunno, it was on PS2 and I never played it

What Would Kevin Do? 03-26-2009 05:49 PM

YES!!! Also, PS3 is region free too, and you can easily set up a Japanese PSN account to download Japanese stuff. Granted I haven't used my credit card on it, it shouldn't be an issue as my credit card works in foreign countries.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-26-2009 05:54 PM

Unfortunatly, after the Tekken DR fiasco (with loads of people just creating Japanese PSN accounts to get the game early, then continuing to do so as the game was about $5 cheaper in Japan), Sony require the billing address to be in Japan to download Japanese stuff.

Can you get currency cards for PSN?

What Would Kevin Do? 03-26-2009 06:26 PM

Eh, worst case scenario, I know peeps in Japan.

D Mac 03-26-2009 07:44 PM

Fucking Japs.

You can blindfold those people with fucking dental floss.

Kalyx triaD 03-26-2009 08:00 PM

When this comes to America and the visuals look tight enough, we'll have a winner.

All that bad stuff I said about the series being 2D will go out the window with an online-enabled edit-whore of a game like this coming around.

Seems like a packed download only game.

PorkSoda 03-26-2009 09:37 PM

I only skimmed through this whole thing...

Landmines? Exploding cage? Edit ref? Match maker?

Sure, why not?

Whats SWA though?

Virtual Pro Wrestling 2

Amazing game, but it doesn't compare to Firepro R, or KOC II.

Fignuts 03-26-2009 10:20 PM

Also, I am verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy skeptical about this.

Especially given the time of year.

What Would Kevin Do? 03-26-2009 10:25 PM

I'm not too concerned. It's been ages since the last fire pro came out, and next gen systems have been out a bit too. I don't see why they'd dramatically change the engine, especially since they want to keep their main base happy, as that's where it's going to sell.

Fignuts 03-26-2009 10:28 PM

I mean seriously, a new fire pro game announced shortly before april 1st, that just HAPPENS to have a ton of stuff people on the fpc boards have wanted for years?

Nah. Not buying it just yet.

Xero 03-26-2009 10:54 PM

Honestly, my biggest suspicion is the English translation coupled with it being Download-only in Japan.

If it's true, awesome, but yeah, this could easily be a fake.

Destor 03-26-2009 10:55 PM

I trust SonnyBone.

Fignuts 03-26-2009 10:57 PM

Dunno, could def see sonnybone pulling this shit as a prank
