I like Southern Rock/Metal, deal with it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a redneck, and a hick. But I like Southern Metal and hard rock, but not Skynard. Nothing against Skynard, just not my cup of tea. I do like Pantera, 7 Mary 3, C.O.C., Super Joint Ritual (not Down), and of course Sweaty Teddy.

List some of the Southern Rock bands you like.

Why the lack of love for Down?

D Mac 03-27-2009 03:12 PM

I'm the same as you, but with Skynard included.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-27-2009 03:27 PM

I enjoy Southern Rock from time to time. Allman Brothers are great. Skynyrd is fine but I'm not as high on them as most people. I've never been a fan of metal from any region.

You would think I would love Down on account of the line up, but I just don't care for them. I've tried on a few seperate occasions to like them, but just don't.

DaveWadding 03-27-2009 04:03 PM

Sweaty Teddy is from DEETROIT therefore =/= Southern anything

DaveWadding 03-27-2009 04:03 PM

and Skynyrd is greater than all the bands you listed combined.

Vastardikai 03-27-2009 04:06 PM

I love Down (but not Superjoint), Assjack, COC (Pepper and Woody are among the most underrated guitarists ever), The Outlaws (Green grass and High Tides forever!), Skynrd (but not Freebird.), COC, Alabama Thunderpussy (yes, they are a real band, or they were.), and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.

Not technically Southern, but Brand New Sin has that groove.

And again, for some reason, Clutch also fits into this genre. Alot of Southern Metal bands (hell, alot of Bands) are influenced by them.

Downunder 03-27-2009 06:03 PM

No love for Steve Earle?

ozzman6669 03-30-2009 06:46 PM

Pride & Glory, Zakk Wylde's first band, I like Black Stone Cherry too

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-30-2009 07:09 PM

Pride and Glory era Zakk Wylde
Allman brothers
Lynyrd Skynyrd
CCR (i'm putting them out there)
DOWN
COC

Some others. I like it southern style, also.

Does Bob Seger count? I think he's ace. Probably the only British guy who knows who he is by name though.

Yet strangely enough he represents. Kid Rock is from Detriot and has a southern twang.

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster

El Vaquero de Infierno 04-07-2009 11:08 AM

Have you heard Rebel Meets Rebel? Basically Pantera with vocals by David Allan Coe. Totally awesome.

GOLDBERG'S BEST FRIEND 04-22-2009 02:59 PM

All the bands mentioned so far are terrible, except for Skynard.

Sixx 04-22-2009 07:09 PM

FFS its Lynyrd Skynyrd, how come none of you can spell it right?

Kris P Lettus 04-23-2009 01:10 AM

He had "nards" on the brain..
