I'm playing Wayne Gretzky hockey now on Megadrive. That's quite close to that era, that'll have to do.

Actually NHL 95 I think on Genesis was the best.

94 was awesome. So was NHL Hitz or whatever it was called.

I have NHL 94 - 97 for SNES on my PC and DS. Great games. I've played NHL 09 on my buddy's PS3. Pretty good shit. Good enough to get me to buy it for 360.

NHL 09 is fucking awesome. No question that that's the one you want to get.

NHL 09 by far, Sega's 2K9 doesn't even come close.

NHLPA '93, NHL '94, NHL '96, and either '97 or '98 (I forget which one) for SNES
NHL 2003 for Game Cube
ESPN NHL 2k4 for PS2
NHL '08 for 360

and I have the rom for Mutant League Hockey on my computer.

The best game of all those is NHL '08, the most fun game for playing against another person is NHL '94 & '08 - depending on if you're playing another old school NHL '94 guy or not. People who don't understand '94 will whine for you to turn off the SNES and play '08 on the 360 instead, lol. :roll:

I think that Sega's 2k4 is better than any 2000's EA hockey until '08. So I suggest you get NHL '09 for your PS3.

Once Sega lost the ESPN license, there NHL games went down hill.

It wouldn't have mattered anyway. ESPN doesn't do NHL.

Don't really know the trade system works in any sport where it's used, but it'd be cool if u can simulate seasons and trade players in the euro leagues too etc. They may be shit, but it's just a decent idea as if u play in the euro leagues and get a decent trade from the NHL, well, maybe it's just me, but I'd get jakked for that. (I'm from an FM09 style wanting all the team options etc! lol).

Still hoping the Elite League finds it's way in one day....

PC Version is shit. Nothing has changed on the PC version in 6 years(except the rosters). Not even the graphics have changed.

PC sucks for certain games, specially if it's as u say and just the teams been updated. That's pathetic.

Yeah, EA has been dropping the ball with the PC version of the sports games. Madden hasn't been updated since 05.

NHL 09 on PC is basically NHL 05 with an extremely half ass'd version of Be A Pro.

Yeah, Sega stopped doing them after they lost the ESPN license and 2k games got the license. They've all been pretty shit since.

Shame, all the 2k games were better than the EA ones. At least NBA still is.

So I finally have it!! It's selling for more on eBay than it is in shops!

This game seems very rare to get in my part of the world, so I had to buy brand new at £34.99 (cheaper than anywhere else) from Gamestation. The only 2 copies I've seen in all the time I've been looking for it. Strangely, cheaper than online shops and as above, eBay.

So can anyone give me a quick brief of this EASHL thing? If CSLi is in here, are u in a team if that is what u do??

Yeah, it was only released in limited quantaties over here for PS3 because of the relativly small install base and unpopularity of Ice Hockey.

It's a shame because I dislike watching the sport but the games are usually awesome.

I too don't have the time to play it dedicated, and the only thing i take seriously is CLAN wars in BF2 / BF2142 / COD4 etc. And even that I've retired from. until COD:MW2 and when BF3 comes back. Then I will get back into it if I have the time.

I only want to see what it is like if I become good enough. I'll give BAP a go first. What is this Franchise thing? Currently watching F1 practice on BBC interactive before I get on NHL.
