Former ECW World champion and long-time WWE announcer Tazz left World Wrestling Entertainment last night after calling the matches for this Friday's edition of Smackdown. He is now officially done with the company as his WWE contract expires today.

Did not see that one coming, especially with Mania this weekend. Huge shake-up in the SmackDown! booth.

JBL back on smackdown duty then?

TBH, that sucks...I've always enjoyed Tazz on commentary.

Saying I'm surprised is an under statement. JBL going back to the booth is probably the best option, but I don't think he'll mesh well with JR as he did with Cole. Hopefully the Draft will fix that.

I hope Tazz left on good terms so that he can still make an occassional appearance.

What is that legit? How sudden is that. I'm glad JBL can get back at the table now but what the hell are they gonna do on Sunday? Weird.

Will Striker get the nod at mania? I hope so.

Maybe that's JBL's history making moment? He'll be doing commentary and competing? I dunno.

Well there's no fully ECW matches, so I doubt the ECW team will even be on the show. That would make it quite easy to just insert Striker in there for Tazz.

They probably would have brought Grishiam and Striker in to help with MITB, but now they can just go with JR, Cole, King, Striker.

Then JBL can take the spot in a couple weeks.

Taz will always been one of my all time favourites. FTW TAZ.

This is fairly shocking, I'm surprised he didn't want to stick around for Mania, since that is usually a big check. He was a decent announcer, but as long as JBL returns, then Im all for it. Maybe they will use Joey Styles with JR then for the SD matches.

I think I'd rather have Joey Styles and JBL instead of JR and JBL. Put Micheal Cole on ECW and bring JR back to RAW.

We'll know the plans a bit better once we see where in the show JBL's match is. If it's early, he very well might end up sitting down to do commentary the rest of the night.
