Dose "Black Machismo" hurt Jay Leathal?

Ok I'm sure this question has been asked before but it's been a while, they've dropped the So Cal Val storyline and he's back with Creed dose the "Black Machismo" Macho Man gimmick hurt Jay Leathal as a wrestler? He's a talented X division wrestler, and I'm still a huge Macho Man fan (I still go OOOOHHHH YEEEAH or walk around circling my finger around in the air :shifty:) but I think that he could do more if he didnt use that gimmick anymore. What do you think should they keep him with the gimmick, should he try and wrestle as Jay Leathal only, or dose this kinda just fall into the dont really care category?

I hate the Black Machismo gimmick. I want to like Jay Lethal, I really do. But I just can't take him seriously with his character. If he drops the gimmick, he could go places. Until that happens, though, it will just be madness.

Almost this. If it weren't for the gimmick he would just be another x-division guy who does flips and shit. Jay has a character no, granted it's someone else's character, but it's character none-the-less.

At first it was fun, but it really should not have lasted this long. He's a very talented guy and doesn't need a shitty gimmick like to get over. I'd say it's hurting him now.

It gives him a little flavor. Otherwise he would be old, stale, and boring. So, I actually think it helps Jay.

I'm talking about like the Black Scorpion thing, where there were multiple "Black Scorpions."

For me, I didn't really pay attention to him until he started the gimmick. Then I started to pay attention to him and he really surprised me and was entertaining. I think that it helped him get over, but now they should get him in a big feud with someone that brings a new intensity to him and he just gradually drops the gimmick bringing him to the next level and give him another X title run as himself.

Jay Lethal was just another face in the X division crowd before. Now here you are talking about him. I can't say the gimic has hurt him at all.

The gimmick was good at getting people's attention at first. TNA just didn't know when to drop it. The whole business with Sonjay Dutt was too late, and they didn't even do it then. Lethal is over now, he can drop the Black Machismo shit and go back to being Lethal, and people will actually give a shit.

If TNA had done this "Nation of Violence" thing right, then I think Lethal would have made a good member of the faction. Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Jay Lethal and maybe Abyss. Of course, the Nation of Violence came from TNA fucking up the Frontline group, which is why you can't have expected them to get it right in the first place. You know, besides them being TNA.
