Liddell

Since it would seem that his MMA career is over, what would you guys say to him going to ROH, TNA, or WWE?

I would like to see him go to either ROH or TNA, as he doesn't have to be a bodybuilder for either one of those and his style might be appreciated more. Japan would be a great place for him to go first, now that I think of it. Make him a strong style talent, then bring him over here.

I dunno, just a random thought I had.

The Show Off 04-22-2009 01:37 PM

Chuck Liddell doesn't have the personality for MMA, he's not a showman he's just a fighter. I love Chuck Liddell and all but he wouldn't translate to wrestling.

Tito Ortiz is a guy that would translate really well to wrestling but since MMA is getting bigger and bigger by the day I don't see this happening.

bigdaddysuperfreak 04-22-2009 01:41 PM

I could see liddel as the silent killer type, give him a good manager to do the talking.

Haze 04-22-2009 02:37 PM

If he did this I would lose all the respect I have for him.

Funky Fly 04-22-2009 02:52 PM

He's never gonna go to wrestling, as it's a huge step down, he has all the charisma of a wet doorknob and it'd be a massive pay cut for a far more gruelling schedule.

They tried that with Dan Severn with less than fantastic results

If there's anyone in the world of MMA that should get in wrestling it's blatantly Rampage

It may be a huge pay cut but if hes leaving mma what is he gonna do for money anyway? I guess he could always open a fight school but that would be a step down and would probably almost as tough. I don't think he is gonna wrestle, but I also don't think it is such a far out option. As for charisma, I think he has some, he shows lots of emotions when he wins, he is already known as the iceman and doesn't do such a bad job with commercials. If you include the instant name recognition he has a better start the 85% of the wrestlers that have stepped into the ring.

Dan Severn wasnt as popular then as Liddel is now so it might work better.

If they could get both Ortiz and Liddell to come in at the same time and fued along side some existing wrestlers as tag teams, I could see it as a possibility.

Disturbed316 04-22-2009 04:25 PM

And dont even talk about Tank Abbort in wcw.

Ortiz had his last fight at UFC 84. What does he do next? Capitalize on his love for wrestling and exploit his character by joining WWE or wear out his name in MMA?

This move would make a lot of sense, as in the past, fighters like Ken Shamrock have crossed into WWE. Brock Lesnar has crossed over into UFC, so why not have Tito come to WWE? He’s got the ability and size.

You make a good point but I just don't see it.

HeartBreakMan2k 04-22-2009 10:12 PM

Tito doesn't need the money, he's done a wonderful job investing his earnings. Plus Chuck would make a fortune with a school.

Both these guys have talked so much shit about pro wrestling historically as well, just can't see it.

Kane Knight 04-22-2009 11:14 PM

I don't see why anyone would want to step down from legitimate fighter to carnie.

I mean, maybe if it's a childhood dream or something....

James Steele 04-22-2009 11:16 PM

Good point KK.

Its for the fame and the spotlight, when you get used to it, its hard to give it up.

Yeah, assuming he's that addicted and can't find a better spotlight elsewhere. He's not K-Fed, you know.

James Steele 04-22-2009 11:29 PM

Good point KK.

Mr. Nerfect 04-23-2009 12:14 AM

Yeah, I don't see a fighter with the profile of Chuck Liddell ever signing with the WWE, but he kind of looks like an angrier Jamie Noble to me. I'd mark the flying fuck out if Chuck came in as his "cousin," much like Nunzio did back in 2003. Actually, re-sign Nunzio and have the extended "Family Noble" run wild over the RAW roster, with Chuck being the star, while Noble & Nunzio work as a tag team.

You wouldn't mark out if Chuck Liddell came in as Chuck Liddell?

What? That is fucking retarded. If the stars aligned, Vince McMahon sold his soul and Liddell temporarily went insane and actually signed with the WWE, the dumbest thing they could do is something like that instead of just capitalizing on the dude's already established star power.

Mr. Nerfect 04-23-2009 02:29 AM

Wow, people actually took that seriously? :|

Mr. Nerfect 04-23-2009 02:30 AM

Of course Chuck Liddell should come in as Chuck Liddell and use his already established recognition to become a hopeful draw for the WWE. But guess what, it's not going to happen.

You got a rep for suggesting pretty crazy shit, so how the fuck was I supposed to know?

I read that shit and damn near snapped my neck from facepalming so hard.

thedamndest 04-23-2009 02:40 AM

It's true. You would mark out for Paul Burchill giving Val Venis a back rub so I just don't know.

Even I have my limits.

Funky Fly 04-23-2009 02:50 AM

And now I have whiplash. I will see you in court, fella.

FourFifty 04-23-2009 02:50 AM

KK brought up some good points.

The Mackem 04-23-2009 09:13 AM

All previous UFC fighters came in when Sports Entertainment was in it's prime and MMA was less lucrative. Short of someone being blackballed from every MMA organisation or the market dropping out of MMA - I can't see any more MMA fighters crossing over.

Impact! 04-23-2009 10:28 AM

(Besides Lashley :shifty: )

The Mackem 04-23-2009 01:06 PM

depends if Lashley actually crosses over or just points towards the ring once a month.

Kane Knight 04-23-2009 05:06 PM

That would be par for the course in TNA.

Destor 04-24-2009 04:12 AM

Liddel would be huge buisness for any company he went to but I don't think he's cut out for it. But if he evr gets hurting for money it would be a smart move for him.

Destor 04-24-2009 04:13 AM

FTR: there is no chance this will ever happen and hasn't even crossed his mind.
