It's time to show some love for an old friend...

This thread is dedicated to the "Paragon of Virtue" Elijah Burke

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...lijahBurke.jpg

Post and rep at will all those who declare their love for the Elijah Express and all the magic he brought to our wrestling lives whilst he was sadly wasted in the annuls of WWE programming time.

I like him with Terkay, but thought the New Blood was a great stable too. ECW was better for me back then, felt more raw and different to the other two shows.

Dave Youell 04-23-2009 06:50 PM

One of the most stupid cuts they ever made IMO, he was fucking great

Mooияakeя™ 04-23-2009 07:01 PM

Good on the mic
Good entrance theme
Good charisma
Good ring work
Good move set
Good on the outside

Youell, I agree.

Juan 04-23-2009 07:05 PM

4 Knuckles Up

Droford 04-23-2009 07:10 PM

I think he would have gotten over more if the hadnt saddled him with the Turkeye dude.

mike adamle 04-23-2009 07:43 PM

His 4-Up on his taped wrists stands for 4 Upside the head.

mike adamle 04-23-2009 07:46 PM

But seriously, Burke was great, too bad they wasted him in WWE. Why hasn't he gone to TNA or ROH yet?

CSL 04-23-2009 07:52 PM

He'll most likely be back at some point if he wants to

screech 04-23-2009 08:13 PM

I always thought he was going to be a huge star. Ridiculous release, as Youell said

Krimzon7 04-23-2009 08:29 PM

I love burke. I loved him and Monty Brown. His release was a testament to the fact that we have some serious fucktards writing this shit.

I don't understand what happened

Xero 04-23-2009 08:45 PM

Maybe Michael Hayes called him a nigger.

Or called himself more of a nigger than Burke

Mr. Nerfect 04-23-2009 09:18 PM

Yeah, I definitely agree that he is one of the stupidest releases they ever made. Good in the ring, a legitimate background, mic skills with an extra helping of charisma. Burke should have, and in time, would have been a major asset to the company.

But I have a feeling that he will one day be back.

Ruien 04-23-2009 09:53 PM

Remember when Vince brought him to ECW to destroy the old ECW crew. I figured he was on a quick rise to fame after that promo. Come on, how many people does Vince acually go to a show, stand in the middle of the ring, and say this is the future.

Dorkchop 04-23-2009 10:00 PM

He seemed promising. I don't know why he got released. He would have been a great guy to have in the mid card for a while and see where that goes after a couple of years.

isn't vinve kinda racist too...... i could see him thinking the fans weould be confused between R-Truth, Elijah, Benjamine and smackdowns ex highest paid athlete and Raws new MVP, MVP (they were all also on the same brand, if not the same brand the same tapings.)

Sovereigntywillpr 04-24-2009 01:40 AM

Not to mention it isn't easy for black people to gradually take over every pro-sport THAT quickly...It Can't just be an over-night thing...

4 knuckles up 04-24-2009 07:56 AM

Heh, about damn time someone made a topic like this! :D

Elijah Burke was great. And he's young enough to come back into the WWE, too. I hope he will, but there are so many great wrestlers out there unsigned... who knows.

Like Moonraker said, he was the complete package. His finisher was also great.

I mean, DAMN! :)

I could go on and on. I wont say he was the black HBK, he wasn't the second coming or anything, but the guy showed so much promise! I remember one ECW episdoe when he took over the commentating for the night- I think few wrestlers are that relaxed and good at talking to do something like that.

He used to have his email address up on his WWE blogs. I sent him a message along the lines of "You're my favourite ECW wrestler! Get another shot against Punk, please!" and he replied back:

"Lol. Thanks alot dude. I will get that title soon enough! Keep supporting ya boy!"

Krimzon7 04-24-2009 09:51 AM

the elijah express is the goods. That is actually my CAW's finisher!

The Mackem 04-24-2009 10:11 AM

He spoke out about the diva search didn't he? People under estimate the power the diva search has/had. Best not to talk bad about it.

Damian Rey 04-25-2009 01:18 AM

Elijah was the fucking shit. The guy was pissing charisma. I cannot understand why he was dumped. Considering what ECW is right now, can you imagine him in programs with the likes of Swagger, Christian, Bourne, and Morrison?

I actually saw an Elijah action figure at the target I work at, and it just made wonder what this guy did that got him canned.

Mr. Nerfect 04-25-2009 04:11 AM

Apparently the man played a fantastic babyface character. Considering everything awesome we remember about him was from his heel days, the WWE never even scratched the potential surface with Elijah Burke.

Afterlife 04-25-2009 08:58 AM

I have read nothing but the introductory post.

I was never impressed by Elijah Burke.

Yeah, even though Brown was clearly inferior between these 2 talents, I don't think he had NEARLY enough chance to prove himself before WWE just tossed him out like yesterday's garbage.

CSL 04-26-2009 02:47 PM

He wasn't tossed, he jumped. Personal family stuff.

Anybody Thrilla 04-26-2009 06:42 PM

Elijah Burke was one of my favorites. I think if Cor Von would have stuck around, they'd both be up to much bigger things today.

Mooияakeя™ 04-26-2009 07:59 PM

I hope that Burke will be back, I started this thread so we never forget him :'(

Turkay said he is hoping to get back to WWE. I'd prefer burke by like

...that much more.
