Personally, I've always enjoyed Sammy's vocals with Van Halen more than DLR. Every new album of Van Halen with Sammy hit #1 on the charts, none of the DLR albums reached #1. However, I believe the DLR albums have sold more copies. Let me check it out.

Edit:
Added:

The 6 DLR albums total: 37.7 million
The 4 Sammy albums* total: 18 million

* does not include the Live Album Right Here, Right Now
Source: http://www.van-halen.com/newsite/music.html
Those numbers are most likely not up to date since the site has gone for years without an update of any kind.

yes DLR era outsells Spammy era. Man an advert for the spammy van hagar tour has DLR Era songs in the background, dammit and old slapnuts spammy wont even sing DLR era tunes.

Take this small scenario for instance:

Eddie Van Halen: Sammy?
Sammy Hagar: Yes Eddie?
Eddie Van Halen: Were thinking of throwing in some old tunes.
Sammy Hagar: I Told you dude, im not singing any of the DLR tunes!!! :|
Eddie Van Halen: GOD DAMMIT! SING PANAMA YOU FAT ****
