Dream Card Tournament: Round 1: Match 1

Here are the first two Dream Card in the Dream Card Tournament the names of the architect of each card will be kept secret until they are eliminated. Voting for this match will end sometime around noon On Friday May 1st EST.

-- Shawn Michaels defeated Ric Flair and Rob Van Dam in a Three Way Dance. Van Dam was eliminated by Flair at the 20 minute mark after Sweet Chin music from Michaels turned RVD into Flair, who pushed him down and locked in the figure-four, making him tap. Michaels then pinned Flair after Sweet Chin Music. (36:00)
-- The Four Horsemen won the Battle for Stable Supremacy after The Horsemen's mystery partner, Curt Henning entered and began helping the nWo, showing his allegiance to them only for Brian Pillman to turn on the Hart Foundation and allow Arn Anderson to get the pin on Hennig after a DDT. (30:00)
-- Eddie Guerrero won the Cruiserweight battle royal after faking a knee injury halfway through the match and rolling to the outside only to return and eliminate Chris Jericho after he thought he had won. (24:00)
-- Cactus Jack defeated Terry Funk in an "I Quit" Match after warapping a chair in a towel and lighting it on fire and assaulting a bloodied Funk with it until he finally said "I Quit". (23:00)
-- The Legion of Doom defeated The Steiner Brothers, The Dudleyz and The Rock 'n Roll Express after a Doomsday Device on D-Von got the pin just before Scott Steiner could pin Robert Gibson after a steinerizer. (17:00)
-- Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat defeated Kurt Angle one fall to none after Angle locked on the Angle Lock with a minute and a half left and held it on until Steamboat was able to reverse it into an inside cradle and get the pin with just under 5 seconds remaining. (30:00)
-- "Stone Cold" Steve Austin defeated Sting after passing out from blood loss while in a Scorpion Death Lock ala Hart-Austin but recovering and chargin out of the corner as Sting went for a Stinger Splash and hitting him with a kick to the gut followed by a Stunner. (20:00)

RESULTS: Shawn Michaels pins Eddie Guerrero after hitting Sweet Chin Music after catching Eddie Guerrero getting up too slowly from a missed Frog Splash.

ELIMINATION MATCH
Triple H (2000) vs Terry Funk (1976) vs Ric Flair (1989) vs Kurt Angle (2002) vs Bret Hart (1994)

RESULTS:
1st Elimination: Kurt Angle submits Terry Funk (counters Spinning Toe Hold into Anklelock)

2nd Elimination: Ric Flair submits Triple H
(counters Pedigree into Figure 4)

3rd Elimination: Bret Hart submits Ric Flair
(Bret Hart locks the Sharpshooter on Ric Flair).

Final Elimination: Kurt Angle TKOs Bret Hart
(Angle masterfully grabs Hart's ankle as he writhes in the Sharpshooter, and works his way into an Anklelock. Bret refuses to tap, and finally Angle grapevines the ankle as Hart passes out from the pain and arm is dropped 3 times.)

RESULTS: Steve Austin kicks Hogan in the gut and gives the Immortal One a Stunner after trying to wag his finger.

CANADIAN PRIDE MATCH
Chris Jericho (2000) vs Owen Hart (1994)

RESULTS: Chris Jericho makes the Black Hart tap to the Liontamer.

(MATCH TIME -- 30 MINUTES)

ULTIMATE FACE VS ULTIMATE HEEL
Ricky Steamboat (1989) vs The Rock (1999)

RESULTS: The Rock looks to nail the People's Elbow, but Steamboat rolls out of the way, and The Rock walks right into some more deep armdrags as Steamboat gains a 2nd wind. The Rock lands a low blow, and hits another Rock Bottom. He goes for the pin, and Steamboat kicks out at 2.999999! The Rock begins to get upset and goes to the outside to grab a chair. He gets in the ring, but Steamboat heelkicks the chair into Rock's face and Rock falls down and tries to get back up as Steamboat climbs to the top. The Rock finally gets up as Steamboat launches himself from the top rope and connects with the huge bodypress and pins The Rock 1-2-3!

(MATCH TIME -- 33 MINUTES)

First time I'm paying attention to this Dream Card Tournament thing. Interesting idea. Would probably have made my own if I didn't only pay attention to it now.

Anyways, second one gets my vote. First one just has too many cluster**** matches. The second one only has one.

I like the 2nd one better, the first one seems to just be throwing big names against each other and hoping for the best, while the 2nd one puts thought into the matchups and the pairings of the opponents. Also, the Hogan/Austin finish is the best finish I have ever heard. I wish somebody would just hit their finish on Hogan when he hulked up and wagged his finger at them like a moron.

The Dawning..... that was a crazy card..... the 20 Man BR & War Games would be awesome

I liked Dawnings. 20 Man Cruiserweight, War Games, and Bobby Heenan. Plus Cactus Jack and Funk in an I Quit match? I'd kill to see that.

2nd one seemed more realistic and less rediculous... the other one had a 24 minute battle royal... that'd bore after a while

Immortal war. It has the better undercard which made the card for me. I like the Main event on The Dawning though.

Both cards are booked very well... Hell, better than I could book them (because somehow Kane would be in the main event in a "tattoo your mask on the opponent match").

What sold me on The War was the main event. First off massive props to anyone in this day and age to put Steamboat in the Main Event. A little risky, and I liked it! Anyone could put Steve Austin and Sting in the main event, but to put Ricky Steamboat in there takes some balls.
Also, the main event was sold a lot better. I loved the idea of "2.9999". Let's face it, as fans we've all sworn we heard the ref hit the three count on a close call. 2.9999 is exactly what it feels like.

Much respect to both people. While neither card was better booked The War was better written. Hell, as a member of the Kliq I should be damning this card because Bret Hart outlasted Triple H and Ric Flair in the fatal fourway, let alone the fact that Bret Hart never tapped.

Massive props to both guys, and it was a close call, but The War was better than the Dawn by a fraction.

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah, Immortal War slightly edges out The Dawning for me due to the undercard and overall scripting - I just can't see a 24 minute battle royal...if it was a 24 minute gauntlet match of some sort I'd have to give it the nod cause that would rule.</font>

I am going to vote on these based on the cards and the cards alone. Basically, which card would I purchase a ticket or purchase the PPV to. I am not voting on results.

And for this one, The Dawning gets the ticket from me here. Tell you what, that Wargames match sold it for me alone. That would be epic.

I would of been pissed at that Pillman turn though.

I think the main events are the first matches on each card. A little weird but I'm pretty sure that was how Show Off wanted them.

Voted against The Dawning because of the silly Sting/Austin ending.

Voted the Immortal War just to see Chris Jericho VS Owen Hart.

War gets my vote...overall both cards look amazing, plus I can actually see them in my head when I imagine it.

Immortal War gets my vote. Chris Jericho vs. Owen Hart sounds amazing. The only difference I would make is to somehow get Kurt Angle vs. Bret Hart as its own match on the card.

They both fucking suck.

The winner, quite obviously was "Immortal War" which will advance to the second round....

The loser... The Dawning was written by #1-wwf-fan.

Yeah, I meant to throw an "almost" in there as opposed to it sounding like Austin actually passed out and then miraculously recovered. To be more specific, the thought I had was for Austin to be busted open and Sting to have him in the Scorpion Deathlock and for the commentators to say how eerily similar this was to that other match.

Eventually Austin somehow finds his second wind, not wanting history to repeat itself and is abloe to get to the ropes. Then he ends it with a kick to the gut catching Sting charging for the Stinget Splash and a Stunner followed by a quick pin.
