Dreamcast/Saturn
I'm thinking about maybe going old school and getting one of those systems.
So which one of those systems would be the better to get and also which of the two would have the better games? I'm rather undecided. |
Dreamcast all the way. There's still a huge following of homebrew developments for it too (by homebrew community standards anyway).
Get MSR for defo. Man, that console was just so underrated by the commercial people. But the PSX was damn awesome. The Saturn was shit. But if u get one, u NEED to get Snatcher. |
I have a dreamcast that I acquired for free last year. My roomate brought it to school for us to play, and then just didn't want to bother packing it at the end of the year.
One man's trash is another man's treasure. Except for it isn't really my treasure. It's still sitting in my closet where I put it. One of these days I'd like to hook it up though. You can burn games to play on it without a mod, which is crazy. Still too lazy to get and burn games though. |

2) Snatcher was a Mega/Sega CD game |
I have both the Saturn and Dreamcast, I would highly recommend the Dreamcast, it has some really good games and like others have said you can burn games without having to mod it. Also the sports games by Sega were some of the best. Also, check out Shenmue, its a game that you will either love or hate but personally is one of my favorite games of all time.
|
I would get a Saturn because it's the one I never had. Daytone USA was one of my favorites on there.
|
I have a dreamcast and i love it. I play the Royal Rumble gam. Crazy Taxi and Resident Evil: Code Veronica i think its called. Love these games. I have 2k football game, but i still havent beat Resident Evil. Gunna hook it up now that i see this thread.

I got stuck on the part where you fight that boss on the plane. I didn't have enough ammo, so I coudn't kill him and was basically forced to restart. I didn't want to go through all the shit again so I didn't.

|
I'll sell you a steering wheel and peddles(standard) for the saturn. I think i have 2 fasser guns too....area 51, the virtual cop games....
I'd love to play that on my projector now.....I might even have some games too... |
i have a power cable !
|
I have the steering wheel.. I need both the power cable and the AV cable..
|
I need a sandwich.
|
I got a knuckle sandwich for you..
|
K, so I have decided to hunt down a Dreamcast. Since you can burn every game for it, there's really no reason to buy a bundled system w/games, right? All games burn 100% flawlessly?
|
No, there's two models and the newer one (there is no reliable way to tell which, try to get one with a manufacture date before November 2000) doesn't play some of the older releases.
Also, not all games are selfboot. If it's in .cdi or .nrg format it should be put the disc in and run, but .iso games require a bootdisc. |
I'd imagine there's a sticker on the bottom with a MFG date?
|
Chu Chu Rocket is fucking awesome

None of the Sega Sports models (the black ones) work. |
There's a store around here that has 1 for $24.99. Think I'm gonna go down and check it out. Is there anything I should be looking for?
|
Other than the date on the bottom, nothing I can think of.
Unless they'll let you try out a CD-R in store :shifty: |
:D

!!!!!! Dated 12/99. Currently burning MvC2, with Hydro Thunder and Gauntlet Legends on deck. So exciteddddddddd. This is the guide I used, but is there anything more "current"? http://dreamlover.tecbox.com/#3.1 http://www.racketboy.com/guides/burn...ler-images.htm I need to get a VMU, but will probably have to go with the 4X no screen ones. Maybe I'll find one to match my awesome green controller. :( |
I'd burn with Alcohol 120%, it's update and works properly in Vista. IMGBurn unfortunatly doesn't support .cdi.
Also, hunt around for a Remix version of MvC2. Awesome soundtracks out there without that I wanna take you for a ride bullshit. |
Okay, I must've done something wrong. Whenever I try to run it, it restarts the system and goes back to the system menu. Downloading 120% now, and see if that helps any.
|
Alright, it works now. Played it for a bit. Now to burn 23412 games. :D
|
2 things:
1. I'm having trouble getting bin/cue games to work. I've put them in when the utopia boot loader told me to, but nothing happens...disc doesn't start spinning or anything. I'm probably burning them wrong. I'm using Nero 8. B. What game is this? http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/4...tation41qj.jpg |
Capcom vs. SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 .
http://www.gamespot.com/dreamcast/ac...001/index.html I think the ps2, gamecube, and xbox versions were just called Capcom vs SNK 2 (EO on gamecube and xbox). |

Burn the bin/cues with Alcohol or IMGburn
