The Cleveland Show

So what is anyone's take on this? Ofc I'll give it a shot, but in general, do you think it is it overkill? or "about time?"

Personally, I get enough of him in Family Guy and hope this won't ruin any FG moments / styling.

Family Guy was bad about the time American Dad debuted. Haven't seen a full episode in awhile except for a few months ago when someone posted a thread about how bad Family Guy had gotten, so of course I had to check it out (in that slow down and rubberneck when you pass a car accident way).

I will probably do the same thing with this show.

Boondock Saint 05-05-2009 07:52 PM

Still love Family Guy and American Dad. Always make me laugh.

I honestly don't have a huge interest in this show but I will certainly give it a shot. FOX must be high on it as they ordered a second season already before it aired.

Mooияakeя™ 05-05-2009 08:00 PM

Ironic considering it got cancelled twice (FG).

Supreme Olajuwon 05-05-2009 08:05 PM

If the show is more subtle and clever I might watch it because I know it's possible for these people to make great episodes, but I'm almost positive it will be too wacky and over the top like American Dad and current Family Guy for me to enjoy it.

If Fox is already giving it a second season it's probably because it's as moronic as this other ADD bullshit that they're putting out now.

parkmania 05-06-2009 12:35 PM

I still love the South Park episodes where they "discover" how the Family Guy episodes get written. It all makes perfect sense to me now.

Droford 05-07-2009 10:15 PM

American Dad is 20x better than Family Guy.

Blue Demon 05-07-2009 10:21 PM

I'll give it a shot...but it really is overkill now.

I agree, although I still like Family Guy too

Triple Naitch 05-07-2009 10:28 PM

South Park killed Family Guy for me. I can't watch it the same way again.

Xerzes 05-08-2009 04:20 AM

I'll watch it. I will watch every episode. And I will hate it the entire time.

Bad Company 05-08-2009 06:47 AM

I'd rather watch South Park

But they're completely different set-ups. Family guy is all skits and one liners. American Dad episodes -- at least what I've seen -- have as much plot as any other sitcom. They get extensions based on being a cartoon, but they are based on plots.

bigdaddysuperfreak 05-17-2009 10:25 AM

Why does clevelands son look like peter?

Supreme Olajuwon 05-17-2009 03:01 PM

Wow one of Cleveland's friends is a bear. This show is going to be awful.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-17-2009 03:04 PM

Although I get what McFarland and co. are doing. They're making TV-14 shows but writing them for 10-13 year olds who will think the shows are edgy and fun.

I dont see how you can say that when most of the gags on both FG (especially) and AD revolve around late 70s to early 90's pop culture. 10-13 year olds hardly even remember the 90's..

The Cleveland Show

So do we all agree that this is the least funny show on and near painful to watch?

Bad Company 10-05-2009 10:54 AM

I didn't think it was too bad. But I don't have any taste.

BigDaddyCool 10-05-2009 11:01 AM

It wasn't near good. I didn't laugh once. It is to formula. Dumb fat father, waste of space oldest son, wise crackin' baby, uppity daughter, morally ambiguous mother. Didn't we already see that in Family Guy and American Dad? The slogan "Like Family Guy with an Afro" is a little to dead on, yeah, there is an afro but none of the charm.

LuigiD 10-05-2009 11:31 AM

The show is not as funny as Family Guy but it is watchable. I am going to give it a little more of a chance. I do agree about the cliche family though. I want to see what direction it takes.

Gertner 10-05-2009 12:01 PM

I agree. Family Guy was fantastic last night.

I know I couldn't stop laughing. So I know my sence of humour wasn't broken. Simpsons is like Garfield, watch it because it is there, a chuckle now and then. Cleveland show meh... Family Guy was on fire.

Seriously, I got to hand it to you jews, you take it really well.

@ post #3: I would say American dad is different enough from Family Guy

Oh it is, but the Cleveland show is American Dad and Family Guy smooched together and made black. Cleveland Jr. is pretty much Steve Smith and Chris Griffon combined.

Fignuts 10-05-2009 03:14 PM

I didn't think it was horrible, but it wasn't that funny either.

If its isn't funny, then what is the point?

Savio 10-06-2009 01:07 AM

The only thing i thought funny was the mens-warehouse thing because I thought that commercial was weird too.

although that would have also fit well in family guy

Shaggy 10-06-2009 02:49 AM

I love the theme song to the show...

Does anyone know why Cleveland Jr is suddenly fat? Wasnt he really thin in Family Guy...but then again I guess he could have fattened up that whole time he was missing from the show.

DAMN iNATOR 10-06-2009 04:45 AM

The theme song to The Cleveland Show is gay, especially that dumb laugh of Cleveland's. About the only part I have enjoyed from the first two episodes where they did a redux of Cleveland somehow being the victim of one of Peter's pranks and having his tub fall from the top of his house to the ground as he yells "NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!"

Savio 10-13-2009 12:46 AM

Ever pretend Clevelands mustache was his mouth? I have
