Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown

On the second listen, first really hit me odd. Second time around it's very pleasant. Another rock opera, but a little more dramatic on this one. Don't really like the single, bothers me how it sounds:

"Know Your Enemy"
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RTSvZuIJLTw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RTSvZuIJLTw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

But it has a really few really outstanding tracks such as:

"Christian's Inferno"
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/60b2IWPYHq4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/60b2IWPYHq4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

&

"Murder City"
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PpwLVqJ2PLc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PpwLVqJ2PLc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Solid outing.

"Know Your Enemy" is so repetitive and monotonous. I get pretty furious every time the radio plays it.

Are they still doing the Government shtick?

Downunder 05-11-2009 12:53 AM

They are punk, they have to Juan

I'm a Green Day fan, and I was ok with American Idiot, but these seems like American Idiot II

Downunder 05-12-2009 03:39 AM

As far as I'm concerned all Americans are idiots...

Juan 05-12-2009 04:27 AM

Cool

Outsider 05-12-2009 06:11 AM

I'm looking forward to it. Brought tickets for one of their shows hear in October, so had better be worth it.

It does seem to have the feel of American Idiot 2, but I think that was always going to be the case. As long as the songs individually sound different, that isn't necessarily a problem. I guess I'll see on Friday.

Downunder 05-12-2009 07:43 AM

I gpot it the other day, gave it a listen on the way into the office, dunno really, I wasn't really concentrating.

I'll give it another go tomorrow

bigdaddysuperfreak 05-12-2009 08:10 AM

Im tired with how bad Green Day wants to be The Clash.

ugh, I'm so sick of this shit

This is how their meeting with record executives probably went

Record Exes: So what do you got for us boys

Green Day: We got 18 awesome songs destined to set off a revolution and get that Nazi Bush out of office!

Record Exes: Um, Bush is out of office and a black man has been elected president. People have real hope now.

Green Day: ..............shit.

Buzzkill 05-17-2009 06:35 PM

The single sounds like the most stereotypical green day song ever

Blitz 05-18-2009 12:51 AM

Dunno just listened to this and I found it rather mediocre.

muffalufagus 05-19-2009 02:24 PM

I wonder what goes through the mind of a man who signs up to a wrestling forum to make his first post about Green Day's newest CD. I wish I could delve into the human psyche to find this out.

I was going to post in the RAW thread, but my account wasn't active yet. I found out this morning that it was, and after browsing and realizing there was nothing of substance to add to the RAW thread.. I decided to troll a Green Day thread.

Is that so bad?

road doggy dogg 05-20-2009 01:45 AM

You are simply the worst type of person.

The type of person that hates Green Day? I'm sure there are worse people out there.

I don't really know how you can find this album mediocre. Yes the first single is dog shit. Everything else is completely fantastic. Every ballad on the album is mind blowing, and it has far less political commentary than the last album. It's actually better than GD:AI.

Johnny Vegas 05-21-2009 12:29 AM

Before The Labotomy = :y:
Last Night on Earth = :y:
21st Century Breakdown = :y: love how they do the combination of different shit like within the first 3 tracks of their albums.

I think the album deserves at LEAST a 3 1/2 out of 5. But i think its a 4..maybe you just have to be in the mood or high as shit :y: i bet if you got high to this shit, it would probably be mind-blowing lol
