WWE Building New Stars (Ryan Clark takes a day off)

The next few months in WWE have been described as a rebuilding period where the company will try to make new stars. The expectation in the company is that as this takes place they are expecting ratings to drop a little. There are said to be plans in place to bring in more developmental wrestlers from FCW and start them with a purpose as opposed to just putting them on TV and hoping it works out.

There has also been discussion about setting a rule where respective creative writers are to only worry about a limited amount of wrestlers on the brand they work for so that it will allow them to do more things with newer talent. Whether or not that will take place remains to be seen.

One big expectation is that with four TV shows a week (Raw, ECW, Superstars and Smackdown) and the possibility of a fifth being added is that more of the shows will become very wrestling-heavy.

I want to quickly apologize for the lack of news yesterday (Saturday) here on the site. I went out to a free Third Eye Blind concert here in Albany, NY yesterday. This is the first day I’ve taken off in what seems like several years. It’s good to take a day or two off every now and then! Thanks for your continued support of the website! We can’t thank you enough. Also, Happy Mothers Day to all you moms out there. Make sure to call your moms and wish them a happy Mothers Day!!

-------------------------------------------------

So...

1) Thank you WWE for confirming to us that you are in a rebuilding period. The past several years have definately not made us aware of this

2) Every time Ryan Clark thinks that what he does is a real job makes me want to just slap him right across the face. I seriously thinks that he thinks that we (the readers) get upset when news is not posted for several hours because he loves to explain reasons why. Hell, maybe there are people that really get upset when he doesn't post news and that's even more sorry then Ryan Clark thinking this is a real job.

I hope this is does happen, and I wonder what the WWE has been waiting on.

WOW! What a crazy idea!

The Ravishing One 05-11-2009 06:08 PM

Ryan Clark is such a penis.

"It’s good to take a day or two off every now and then!"

Prick!

St. Jimmy 05-11-2009 06:18 PM

Time to feed the Cena again already? Jeez. OM NOM NOM.

Dorkchop 05-11-2009 07:02 PM

I love how he's bragging that he crawled out of the basement to see Third Eye Blind.

KYR 05-11-2009 07:06 PM

So 'Ruthless Aggression' all over again hey.

Oh and didn't <s>shit for brains</s> Ryan Clark take a day off last month for a court appearance? :wtf:

KYR 05-11-2009 07:07 PM

He needs a Twitter Account so I can keep track of his daily movements.

In the short term, probably to get past Wrestlemania.

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2009 02:12 AM

Finally, the WWE are actually waking up a little. If only they had Elijah Burke still on the roster.

FourFifty 05-12-2009 02:14 AM

They need to send a box full of money out to Elijah Burke, and Don Callis, NOW!

Dave Youell 05-12-2009 03:01 AM

Man I feel bad for Hade Vansen, if his push was happening now that thing with Taker might of happened (if he wasn't injured etc) poor guy.

Isn't this kind of conflicting though? I mean, I've heard that most of the FCW guys aint setting the world on fire like that great batch of OVW guys that came through around 2002 (Cena, Lesnar, Benjamin etc)

Dave Youell 05-12-2009 03:02 AM

Also, I know that Vince doesn’t seem to think that all these shows are over-exposure, fact is, they are. As I know the UK doesn’t get superstars, I doubt we will be this other show either, so trying to build guys on these other shows will be lost on anyone outside of the US

St. Jimmy 05-12-2009 06:41 AM

This will last 3 days and then they will fire half the roster and book Cena vs. Batista.

Gertner 05-12-2009 07:18 AM

lol 3rd eye blind

I was just thinking to myself whether bringing more guys up - even with more of a purpose - is a wise move at all.

Why not concentrate on giving purpose to the guys that you called up in the last 2 years and have done barely anything with before you throw more ingredients into the pot?

Krimzon7 05-12-2009 11:49 AM

We've been clamoring for more Under/mid card. We're getting it now. Let's hope that the WWE doesn't fuck this up supremely

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Skippord 05-12-2009 02:12 PM

Third Eye Blind is still around?

Most of them have been fired already.

Mr. Nerfect 05-13-2009 12:15 AM

I don't think they really need to call up too many guys right now, and rather just focus on building the guys they already have up. I wouldn't mind seeing Joe Hennig on SmackDown!, though.

I wish Hade Vansen had actually debuted. Have them bring up Papi Sanchez (a different name) as his bodyguard.

Mr. Nerfect 11-19-2009 04:18 PM

I still want to see Kaval brought up as CM Punk's ally.

Mr. C 11-19-2009 04:21 PM

I want to see Lita brought back as Punk's girlfriend.

Yeah we all know the cool thing to do is to act like you know more than WWE. Fact is though that during the Attitude Era, none of the big names were guys that were brought in deliberately and pushed with a purpose. The massive popularity enjoyed by Austin, the Rock, Foley, and HHH was largely due to a "just go out there and do whatever the hell looks like it works" theory. So let's can the whole "I noes more then Vince McMann" act already.

XL 11-19-2009 06:56 PM

That's all well and good but the likes of HHH, Rock, Austin and Foley are the exception to the rule, not the rule.

Pretty sure the list of people thrown out there with little/no purpose that are no longer around or simply haven't managed to get over far outweighs the success stories.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-19-2009 09:19 PM

Honestly the WWE knows nothing about making a wrestlign product they just know how to run good business. Can't really fault them but it is pretty crap lol.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-19-2009 09:19 PM

Well they know SOMETHING but quite clearly it is very rarely captivating wrestling.

Indifferent Clox 11-19-2009 09:43 PM

I want wrestling that's actually interesting. Not stories that are half assed versions of other tv shows

TerranRich 11-19-2009 11:49 PM

I love the fact that nobody seems to realize that this thread is over 6 months old.

Mr. Nerfect 11-20-2009 03:17 AM

I know I noticed. I didn't really care, though. Don't see what the big deal is.

Indifferent Clox 11-20-2009 05:03 AM

Yeah, I feel as though this didn't happen as much as it should have

Dave Youell 11-20-2009 07:02 AM

You know what I find funny.

TNA has done 10000x better with one guy (Desmond Wolfe) in 5 weeks, than WWE has with pretty much all the new guys they've brought in over the past 3 years.

I think the Rock was definitely pushed with a purpose from day one but back then they were allowed to be creative. They actually pushed the workers that were getting reactions because they had to compete with WCW.

That is in stark contrast to the scripted lines workers are fed now with workers that they want the fans to react to but the fans are given little to no reason as to why they should.

Fabien Barthez 11-20-2009 07:59 AM

Yoshi Tatsu is who i'm reminded of by that, The Mackem.

A Puroresu style wrestler with good experience and a fairly solid look. I see this guy and think he should be in plain shorts, have a manager as a mouthpiece since he doesn't speak much if any English and bill him as the last great japanese wrestler or a japanese wrestling machine. Make his differences from the rest of the roster gt him over.

Instead, he has a stupid cartoon themesong, is named after a video game character, has no micwork to speak of, and no mouth piece. Wears generic Japanese tights and has absolutely no gimmick to speak of.

He is a great worker with no chance of progressing. I think his match with Christian from ECW is still on youtube. I got a bigger crowd reaction last time I walked into Tesco than he did when he walked out for his ECW championship match.

Impeccable 11-20-2009 08:03 AM

Crowds in Tesco will cheer for anything though.

Tesco Value *Clap clap clap clap*

Fabien Barthez 11-20-2009 08:08 AM

They wouldn't cheer for Yoshi Tatsu. Tesco's weekly offers are more entertaining and better packaged.
