What's the most important thing in a "shoot" angle?
Well?
Depends on the context. In the worked shoots everybody comes out in street clothes and might call somebody by their real name to show how serious they are. In RF shoots they are in street clothes, but will sometimes call the other wrestlers by their wrestler name, I guess just to make the story clear to the audience. So I'll go with street clothes.

Vince Russo

Street clothes and cameramen running around all handycam style.
Also, it is important that Vince Russo is not involved. He always fucks it up. |
you really need one thing to make it work
Nipple cut-outs???
you need a Brian Pillman, which includes Nipple cut-outs and cane
When I read the question, the only thing I thought of was "not insisting that it's a shoot ten thousand times (this could be referred to as "Russo-ing a shoot) so I voted for every option that wasn't "saying it's a shoot." Except other, because that might somehow have sent the wrong message.

Just bring New Jack / Iron Sheik with you.
Tbh, I think that should of been an option. |

Just little "mistakes." Maybe on live tv have a color guy say "That wasn't in my notes" or seeing two people argue back stage with other wrestlers breaking kayfabe to hold them back. Make no references to the fact that Jericho was the one to help up Ricky Steamboat after he was knocked down by another wrestler. Just let the internet stir up the pot.
But most importiantly, for a "shoot" angle they need to feed us BS news with real names. "Paul Wight has been suspended for punching Dustin Runnels in the stomach during an argument." Feed us lies because we will eat them up. |
Not wrecking something that could be good just to get a point over that a 'shoot' is being done.
Make it believable.
I think the most important thing in a shoot angle is real tension.
For example, I think a shoot angle with Triple H could be really cool, if his opponent was talking about how he's kept him down, or whatever, and he just wants to get him in the ring so he could fuck him up, and then they worked really snug with each other. He wouldn't need to call him "Paul," or swear, or say he's "shooting," and he could be in wrestling attire when he does it.
