I feel like Batistia vs. Cena in a retirement match at WrestleMania 26 would be pretty great. I mean, it takes two of the top guys that a lot of people really don't wanna see in the title picture (I mean... Cena has his fans, myself included but even for the people who like him, this would be pretty intriguing for them), and it puts them in a match with a HUGE stipulation and keeps the two title matches open for better match-ups. Plus we know Cena and Batista could probably put on a good dramatic match with the stipulation in mind and tons of near falls.

Plus I think it would make a pretty great Rock-Hogan-esque atmosphere. It would also be one of those matches where you know who's going to win but you're pulling for one or the other despite it. Kinda like that epic match that happened at this years WrestleMania that I won't refer to by name for the sake of not mentioning it in the same paragraph as a Cena vs. Batista match.

But anyway.... retirement matches at Mania are the goods.

Is Batista set to retire? I know he's 40 now but is he really at the retiring stage?

Yeah a John Cena vs. Batista retirement match at Wrestlemania with knowledge that Batista is set to retire soon would not be predictable at all.

I'm thinking that we may get Batista vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 26, but I'm willing to bet it will be for the WWE Title, with Batista as defending champion and Cena as the Royal Rumble Winner getting the shot.

Not trying to put down Cena but I hope he doesnt win the Royal Rumble again. That would be a great match if he retires or with Triple H since they are friends. Either way, they could put on a great match and i would hope it would be a 2 out of 3 falls match since we havent seen one in a long ass time. But I really hope he sticks around for a few more years since he is one of my favorites. Plus my little girls would be pissed. She loves his entrance and pyro.

No, I think if those two were to hook it up at WM XXVI, it should be a good, old-fashioned Ironman Match. Now that's a match that we haven't seen in a long-ass time (close to 5 years ago since the last on WWE, IIRC).

P.S.--Just found the Ironman match, and how's this for irony: Benoit was involved in the match against Triple H! I mean, yes, there have been Ironman matches in WWE since, but none that I can think of that are of the 60-minute variety.

I've got the impression that either John Cena or Shawn Michaels is winning the Royal Rumble next year. I think we're either going to get Batista vs. John Cena or Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship.

If they did do a match with John Cena vs. Batista at WrestleMania, and they had some sort of stipulation like that, I'd mark the fuck out if Batista turned heel during the match, and cheated to win fucking Cena over good. Massive heel turn for Batista. :y:

I would love to see that happen. The only thing that I have with Cena is that they made him seem like he cant lose but only like 2-3 times a year and always gets in the title picture most of the year unless he is hurt. With Batista learning from Triple H, he is a good person to be able to turn heel/face like Triple H. He wont be able to pull it off as good as HHH but will do a great job.

Why is it silly for him to have a retirement match before them if he IS going to retire?

It would certainly not "cheapen" any other retirements. If anything, whenever they come OUT of retirement it cheapens it to the point of retirements meaning jack shit. Which they pretty much do at this point.

The fact is that Batista is pretty huge with the casual fans and if he really is going to "retire", they may as well make an angle out of it.

The match would be built up as a retirement match. Cena vs. Batista. As in the loser must retire. With Flair, while it was a storyline, it was more of a "moment". This would simply be a cool "major match stipulation" for the match and then you could legitimately have Batista stop wrestling.

There obviously wouldn't be a big spectacle about it because, storyline-wise, it wouldn't be all about Batista's last match. It would be about either Cena or Batista being vanquished from a WWE ring forever. And of course, you'd have your mark fans who are going crazy late in the match when Batista gets that 2.99999999 count on Cena. I think the atmosphere and buildup would be pretty great. And you would still have two world title matches.
