Who would you like to see in an Iron Man Match?
 

The concept of the Iron Man Match came up in the thread about Batista thinking about retirement, and seeing as we've got one for Hell in a Cell, I figured that I would ask you who you'd like to see in an Iron Man Match.

Personally, I think Edge and CM Punk's current story could be built up to this sort of match. Punk has proven that he can go the 60-minutes, and Edge is a really good worker who could pace himself for it, I think. I'm convinced they'd tell a good story, too. I could see Edge using a steel chair to get himself disqualified at one point, but taking out Punk's leg so he could work submission spots like the Sharpshooter, which Punk could submit to prevent further damage to his leg.

Do you think a Three-Way or Four-Way Iron Man Match would work?

I think the question should be, who can go for sixty minutes now and pull of a classic? Not many of the newer guys have wrestled for longer than 20 mins, and the matches just seem to be getting shorter too. And some of the guys wrestling five minute matches don't have the ring presence or ring psychology to pull those off properly.

If Benoit was still alive, I think he and Triple H could have gone for an hour. With an intense feud behind it, that could have been epic.

Of the guys around today, I'd like to think that Matt Hardy could eventually pull off an hour.

My ideal iron man match with current roster would be face Michaels vs Heel jericho or a face Jericho vs Heel Hunter

Yeah, I agree with Impeccable. I don't think there's really many who could pull it off. This makes my interest in an Iron Man match 0.

If you were unaware, they did go at it for an hour for the World Heavyweight Championship on the 7/26/4 edition of Monday Night RAW, and, yes it was awesome...:yes: As a matter of fact, I came up with the suggestion of another Iron Man match being needed in WWE over the other suggestion for a hypothetical Batista vs. Cena match in the thread Noid is referring to, and posted the vids of that match.

There hasnt been a decent Iron Man in years.

Theres no way HBK is going 1 hour one on one. Maybe in a 3 way but thats still stretching it.

Jericho/Punk is my vote.

Christian vs Morrison for a title of some kind.

Edge and Jerico... but mainly Jericho.

Angle and HBK had a hard time going 30. I just dont know. I agree there is only 2 or 3 peeps who could do it.

Honestly, my dream match would be HBK Vs anyone in his retirement match, ending his career with the match that helped make it.

I think only a combo of HBK, HHH and jericho could make it worthwhile.

Taker could have 2 years ago, but injuries have caught up.

Why do you want to unite the world titles? Seriously. Do you really want one WWE brand? Three major TV shows, one title.... Yea, not a good idea. It'll be Cena vs Orton on one show, Cena vs Triple H on another show, and Cena vs Jack Swagger on the third. WILL HE OVER COME THE ODDS, BAH GAWD!?!?!?

A lot of the limitations we see on guys are what the WWE places on them. As noted, CM Punk can go for about an hour, and a lot of the guys with independent backgrounds would wrestle much longer than they needed to in order to tell a fantastic story.

If they ever feud, I think that The Brian Kendrick wrestling his mentor in a series of the matches HBK "made famous" would be interesting. An Iron Man Match between the two could be very interesting.

I'd like to see Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin work an Iron Man Match together, but probably only something like a 30-minute one. I'd also mark out if they had a Iron Men Tag Team Match with Tyson Kidd & David Hart Smith, channeling some USA vs. Canada vibes.

Yes, I was unaware....there was about a year where I went without Sky Sports, and that match fell in that year.

Christian and Jack Swagger. They seem like two people who could keep a steady match going for an hour. It might be a solid ECW gimmick one day, just have the match cover the entire show.

I'd love to see Christian because I know he could pull off a great match, but we all know that is never going to happen. Jericho vs Christian in an iron match would give me the hardest erection I'd ever get in my life.

Jericho and Punk could have a great iron man match. They have great chemistry together.

Edge vs. Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk vs. Christian?

Punk vs. HBK or Jericho vs. HBK would be epic.

Batista vs. Cena - 3 Hours.

Obviously HBK can go an hour as he regularly goes 30 minuets or so these days. As well as having done the iron man match before, and going near an hour with Cena on Raw.

Triple H could probably pull it off with someone really great like HBK or Chris Jericho, don't forget his Iron Man match with the Rock. Which I really enjoyed, it was much different than Bret/HBK but still really good.

I think the best people to do an hour long match in WWE would be Jericho who is just amazing and the best wrestler in WWE. As well as CM Punk who regularly went an hour in ROH matches.

Edge could pull it off too, and I'm sure that The Undertaker could give it a good shot.

Orton could go an hour. 1 minute of wrestling and 59 of rest holds.

HHH couldnt even pull it off without a bunch of gimmicks and interference thrown in to keep things interesting.

To pull off a 60 minute match, you've gotta be elite in the ring. HHH was not, and never will be. In fact, there aren't many around today that are. HBK vs?

Matt Hardy and MVP should have ended their rivalry with that a year or two back.
