New WWE Submission PPV

So...... What's your thoughts on the concept and the names??? Also, poll is up, which is ur best out of them.

If anything, Breaking Point is the best imo, but ffs. Just let people suggest names and vote on the best 10 or something. Fuck Submission Sunday, sounds like Cyber Sunday. I mean, where is the thought behind this?

Rammsteinmad 05-18-2009 03:36 PM

I actually think Total Submission if pretty cool, if it was a submission themed PPV.

Testicle 05-18-2009 03:37 PM

Breaking point is the only option that doesn't sound completely retarded. But I do believe that having a ppv built around a gimick match is retarded. (TNA Lockdown anyone?)

Xero 05-18-2009 03:39 PM

I don't like the idea of a submission-themed PPV. It would get redundant, like Lock Down.

And, I mean, who is even submission-oriented anymore? Seriously, can't think of anyone in the WWE.

This should have happened about ten years ago, not now.

Xero 05-18-2009 03:42 PM

Although, maybe Ryan Cock got his messages mixed and it's actually for a WWE 24/7 show/DVD. In that case it's fine.

Edit: Never mind, "Submission Sunday" shoots down that thought.

This is a stupid idea.

KaliKot 05-18-2009 04:16 PM

They should call it WWE Tapout

I agree with this statement.

Nicky Fives 05-18-2009 04:30 PM

meh.... as long as I don't have to see Cena attempt to apply an STF on someone and have them tap, I'm all for the idea..... Total Submission works for me

Hanso Amore 05-18-2009 04:34 PM

Maybe Punk would finally start doing the Anaconda Vice again, which was 10 times better than the GTS, and he never uses it anymore

Outsider 05-18-2009 04:34 PM

What a great idea. Lets have all the members of the roster suddenly learn one submission move each for a month.

Christ, it would be such a boring three hours. Submission matches can be great with two good workers, but watching something like Umaga vs Khali to a submission? It's a thought that sends shivers down my spine.....

#1-norm-fan 05-18-2009 04:49 PM

Umaga vs. Punk in a submission match sounds amazing for some reason. Like... they build up the ridiculous thought of Punk never being able to make Umaga submit and then after a good, long match, he locks on the Anaconda Vice and after like a minute, minute and a half of trying to get out, Umaga starts to slowly pass out and taps. Makes Punk look a million bucks.

It reminds me of Umaga vs. Cena a few years ago at the Rumble. Fucking loved that match.

So I guess you wouldn't be for it.

Dorkchop 05-18-2009 05:23 PM

Breaking Point is a cool name for a PPV. As lame as these are Tap Out or Tapped Out or Ye Old Tappe Out, would probably all work. Can't be any worse than Taboo Tuesday.

Dave Youell 05-18-2009 06:54 PM

What if they were to make some of the Sub matches gimmicky?

Like a falls count anywhere type thing where you can make them tap anywhere in the building

A 2 out of 3 taps match

I quit is surely an option

Add a Womens match and a tag and you've got a PPV with enough difference to make it semi interesting

Mr. Nerfect 05-18-2009 07:50 PM

I'm very curious about the idea. It seems like they're not even thinking about making every match a Submission Match. It'd just be your main events. Edge and CM Punk could pull off a damn fine Submisison Match, I think. Edge has started using the Sharpshooter, and Punk could bring back to Anaconda Vice to go after the neck of Edge.

As Dave said, there are modified versions of the Submission Match to shake the PPV up. There's a regular Submission Match, an I Quit Match, Ultimate Submission.

Also, WWE Submit & Quit.

Savio 05-18-2009 08:11 PM

Doesn't TNA have a PPV called breaking Point? or was that UFC? that one sounds good but its been used before.

Also not every match would be submission just The main events

Mr. Nerfect 05-18-2009 08:18 PM

TNA has Turning Point.

HeartBreakMan2k 05-18-2009 08:23 PM

I'm a really big fan of submission wrestling so I adore the concept, I just wish they had the roster to actually pull it off.

Mr. Nerfect 05-18-2009 08:24 PM

The WWE has the roster, they just don't let their roster implement a submission moveset.

Ok, I just wish they would put the focus on the guys capable of doing such a ppv then.

Mr. Nerfect 05-18-2009 08:27 PM

You'd hope that they'd have to, if they were going to do a PPV like this.

I miss the Haas of Pain. :(

You would think they would, but no.. they wouldn't. It'd be STFU's and bearhugs, and ugly crossfaces, and even worse sharpshooters :(

oh UFC 81 Breaking Point

Mooияakeя™ 05-18-2009 08:45 PM

U reckon Taker will own all with his device of doom that he calls Hell's Gate / Devil's Triangle? - Be intersting to see WWE superstars attempt to do submission moves. lol. They'll look so stupid.

Strange they came up with this. It's to capitalise on the MMA thing a little, a little on the "hardcore wrestling marks" and to mix things up.

I do agree they should be different matches tho. 2 falls / 3 tap outs / no chokes / innovate a move only match etc.

I'd honestly mark out if that was the tagline for the PPV.

WWE Breaking Point: Ring the Bell! To my knowledge, here are the wrestlers on the WWE roster who have used submission moves as finishing holds in the past:

Big Show: Anaconda Clutch (Cobra Clutch)

Carlito: Fourto Rico (Figure Four Leg Lock, OVW)

Chavo Guerrero: Low Rider (STF), White Out (Rolling Half-Boston Crab)

Cody Rhodes: Bore 'Em and Snore 'Em (Sleeper Hold, OVW)

Jamie Noble: Trailer Hitch (Modified Figure Four), Paydirt (Guillotine Choke), The Noble Dragon (Dragon Sleeper Clutch), Jujiga-Jamie (Cross Armbar)

John Cena: STFU (STF)

Mr. Kennedy: The Kennedy Curse (Modified Figure Four)

MVP: Take it to The Bank (Crippler Crossface, independent circuit)

Primo: Fourto Rico (Figure Four Leg Lock, independent circuit)

Santino Marella: Calabria Crack (Standing Inverted Fujiwara Armbar), Three-Sided Polygon Submission Maneuver (Triangle Choke)

Shawn Michaels: The Heartbreak Lock (Modified Figure Four), Crippler Crossface, Ankle Lock

Ted DiBiase: Million Dollar Dream (FCW)

Triple H: Game Over (Sleeper Hold), Aristocrack (Inverted Indian Deathlock, WCW), Crippler Crossface, Figure Four

William Regal: Regal Stretch (Arm-Trap Cross-Legged STF)

Charlie Haas: Haas of Pain (Modified Texas Cloverleaf)

Chris Jericho: Walls of Jericho (Modified Boston Crab)

CM Punk: Anaconda Vice (Arm-Trap Compression Choke)

Edge: Edgecator, Sharpshooter

Kung Fu Naki: Cross-Knee Lock, #1 Leg Lock (Figure Four)

The Great Khali: Khali Klaw

The Undertaker: Taker Care of Business (Standing Dragon Sleeper), Hell's Gate (Gogoplata)

Christian: Texas Cloverleaf

David Hart Smith: Sharpshooter, Bulldog Collar (Camel Clutch Variants), Bulldog Bite (Dragon Sleeper Variants)

Ezekiel Jackson: Jack-Rack (Torture Rack)

Finlay: Celtic Knot (Modified Indian Deathlock)

Paul Burchill: Royal Mutilation (Fujiwara Armbar)

Beth Phoenix: Flight of the Phoenix (Elevated Double-Arm Chickenwing)

Melina: California Dream (Sickle Hold)

Michelle McCool: Make a Diva Tap (Brazilian Heel Hook)

Natalya: Sharpshooter

The Gold Standard 05-18-2009 11:11 PM

Breaking Point is the best

.44 Magdalene 05-19-2009 12:51 AM

Taker Care of Business is easily one of the dumbest move names I've seen in a long time.

Xero 05-19-2009 12:56 AM

"That Submission Move Again" was worse.

Hey, that's actually one I didn't make up.

Dave Youell 05-19-2009 04:01 AM

They could do a lion's den match as well

And even have one under MMA rules, now to be honest, in a brawl for all style, with shoot wrestling, i'd be very interested in seeing who'd come out on top, everyone know's the story of Benoit beating Show backstage in a shoot wrestling match, I'd love to have seen that

Dave Youell 05-19-2009 04:01 AM

And of course Jericho pwning Goldberg would of been awesome to see as well

Impeccable 05-19-2009 05:11 AM

Jericho vs Regal, submission match, make it happen!

Dave Youell 05-19-2009 08:32 AM

Submission match with weapons legal

Ironman Submission

There's loads of idea's here!

Kane Knight 05-19-2009 09:20 AM

Total submission, only because I want the PG era WWE to have an S&M title.

Theo Dious 05-19-2009 09:23 AM

You know, they have a PPV called "No Mercy," don't they? Why don't they just attach this concept to that PPV if they want to do it so bad?
