New Linkin Park: "New Divide"
Official theme of Transformers RotF:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SdZEhCavEV4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SdZEhCavEV4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Being the official theme, this will be weaved into the score. It'll be interesting to hear it. I love it, and I can't wait for their next studio effort. Love the sound "Minutes to Midnight" bought about. |
The band has evolved a lot since their last studio release. Cannot wait for their next release.
I've heard some of the material off their first album but not much more...never actively sought out their stuff...if you guys were to recommend five tracks from all their existing material, what would they be?
QWERTY
No Roads Left Numb Faint (live ver. for that extra rock-out ending) In Pieces |
I wouldn't bother

Nice song, happy to hear some new LP finally.
The song is alright, but the video putting up the lyrics annoys the shit out of me.
I think the song itself is OK, but not anything special compared to anything off of Minutes to Midnight. However, given the context (Being the theme to the Transformers movie and whatnot) I think it works remarkably well. The intro, which will no doubt be the part used throughout the score, seems very evocative and fitting for a sci-fi action movie. :y:

Is this a Diesel Mac thread? I was only asking because Linkin' Park is so fucking terrible they make AIDs patients happy to havee AIDs.
whoa slow down killer
Oh yay, good to know they're following the minutes to midnight blue print, which means more whiny, annoying singing, and less Mike Shinoda. Give me a fucking break. Seriously, Shinoda needs to put out some more Fort Minor stuff, because this shit is horrible.

Yeah, seems alright I guess.
It's nearly the same tune as "What I've Done." Listen carefully to the beat just before the first lyrics. It's the same shit.
More I listen, the more I like it. I think it's a real strong vocal from Chester.

Yeah, the beat's on the same tembo. Even the chorus repeats the same way (you can sing "na-na na na").
Still like it. I mean, this isn't the first time LP copy pasta's a song's structure. It's their damn signature. |
First Creed now Linkin Park.
Dose the shit never end. I thought all these cunts were dead (or unemployed) |
Linkin Park never broke up...
Shame
They're great. Got their latest live CD/DVD last Xmas, it's nice. Not as crunk as Texas but it gets awesome at the end (Jay Z, Faint solo ending, 8-minute Bleed It Out!).
Just heard the song. Pretty decent.

Really? I found them okay. I guess I give it points for the extended intro.
Nothing against them but the studio version was much better.
I'm very much looking forward to their new album. New Divide is great and I loved Minutes to Midnight
that sounded like every single Linkin Park song there ever was.

Does it really matter how Linkin Park sounds right now?
They'll just end up making like 5 more renditions of the same damn song and release another "mix" or "live" CD. |
I like remixes. :-\
Linkin Park over uses remixes. They released 3 CDs for one album
Idk. I really don't mind a band putting out remix albums or whatever between working on studio albums. If it's a band I like, I appreciate getting something to tide me over while a band disappears for a year or two to write and record.

You people need to get your damn facts straight.

Yes
Linkin Park is no different from Nickelback. Maybe a different sound, but every single song both bands make, sound the same. Linkin Park tried to mix it up on there last album, but guess what. U2 wants there gimmick back. Three Doors Down, Nickelback and Linkin Park basically went to the same school of music. Remix your first hit single, add a new beat, a new riff, a different chorus and tweak the song subject and boom! 2nd hit single. Its horrible and old. I liked the band when they first came out. They've done nothing since there first album and theres alot better Linkin Park type bands out there anyways. Nonpoint makes Linkin Park sound like kids music. |
Seriously I hate to rain on your Linkin Park manpile here, but New Divide sounds like What I've Done mixed up. The opening part sounds like What I've Done's but backwards. And the Chorus sounds like What I've Done, but with different words and a slightly different tone.
Trust me, Rec, you're not raining on a damn thing. You might wanna stop pretending we have no clue LP uses 'layouts'. It was quite clear in Hybrid Theory (the CD you like?). Perhaps what we expect and value from bands aren't the same as yours? Blown your mind much?
I'll break this down even more. Since you asked me too.
