2+ DVD RW Drives
So on my MOBO I've got 6 sata connections, am I write in thinking that I can literally hook up 6 DVD drives and would be able to burn a 6 of the same disc at the same time (with the right software)
Or is there something else needed for that sort of thing? |
Your computer couldn't handle all that shit going on.
|
You'd need a high powered processor, a very powerful power supply, enough physical memory to support the buffer, and a decent raid controller.
|
Well, for one thing, if you hooked up 6 drives, you'd have no place for the hard drive. Unless you plan to run an IDE drive or something...
|
Ok, any idea where I could find the minimum specs for that then?
I did just buy a new 600w PSU, I'm running a duel core 3.1 ghz processor am I anywhere near close to having what I need? |
Why do you need to burn 6 copies of a disc at once? Hell, why do you need to burn 6 copies? And how often are you going to burn multiple copies of something, to where it would even be worth it to set this up?

They make stand alone setups that do this sort of thing. Probably a lot cheaper than buffing up your PC.

Yeah, that's the prob
A few new drives would only cost 100 quid max, just need to know if or how I can do it |
If you've got at least 2gbs of RAM and the PSU to handle it, since you're only burning the one image to several discs at once, Easy Media Creator should be able to handle it as it will just use one buffer and burn the DVDs at the same time (I did 5 back in the day with version 8, not sure about the 2009 edition mind you. And mine was with CDs). You'll probably have to use 4x speed or slower, mind you.

Thank you Hasney.
Currently I've got 2gb, will be upgrading soon, and as mentioned I got a 600w PSU, so hopefully I should be ok. |
You also need to worry about heat that may be created inside your case. Burning DVDs is a bit of a task, even if you have a strong system.
|
Should be fine.
