They've dropped the 80gb origianl to the same price "while stocks last"....

Apparently the "remove OS" feature will be removed from the slim, meaning no installing Linux on it.

are they gonna be able to play PS2 games?... Cause if they don't that's another major flaw, Theres still some cracking ps2 games out there that i haven't yet beaten

I gotta admit, it looks sexier than that football sitting on my entertainment center.

Is there a feature list yet? I've been warning my friends they might want to wait until they know what's included, since Sony's got a history of stripping things from the PS3. Granted, it'd be great if I could get some of them to play on the PS3, but I don't want them to yell at me when they find out they removed the remaining USB ports, HDMI access, and the disc drive. :shifty:

A 250 gb elite? why microsoft? just make the current 120 gb elite blu ray capable and there's the answer.

All the features are the same as the latest fat PS3.

It only has two USB versus four in the original, and has no media card reader. Those are the ones I know about.

For one, they want to push their HD video services instead of Blu-Ray. For another, thy don't want to discourage people from paying ten to twenty bucks extra for game downloads.

Ahh yeah I had no idea. That's why VC said "latest fat". Definitely had not noticed that they removed those long ago.

Prolly going to get a slim. It just feels like the right time to pull the trigger. Want to play some Fat Princess, MLB 09, and MGS4.

One thing I'm excited about is the fact that the eject and reset buttons are now hard buttons. When I was a manager for gamestop the sensors would go out all the time and the system wouldn't know what to do. These being physical buttons will remedy alot of that.

I gotta admit I prefer the physical feedback of a switch. The touch "buttons" seem a bit dodgy.

I pulled the trigger on a CAG deal that someone found. Got it for 299.99 with free shipping and no tax from Buy.com, with a pending 30 dollar cashback deal through Bing. 270 for a Slim was just too good to pass up for me.

I want to see if anyone will trade me a Dualshock 3 controller for a 360 controller. I've got 4 360 controllers for no reason at all.

Ah shoot, But you gotta admit there are still some PS2 games out there that you would still play.

at some point in the future i probably won't care as much but trying to beat escape from monkey island is tough

Sometimes I worry that my obsession with playing games older games will get so ridiculous that I may own a console and never play a game on it.

when people are creaming themselves over Final Fantasy VII still, is it really wise to remove BC entirely? The PS2 had an awesome gaming library and it kinda sucks to see most of that go by the wayside.

On the other hand, I have my old, fat PS3 with software emulation and that works well enough, so I can't bitch too much.

I think the only thing that really bothers me about this is that most systems add more as a sales incentive, and the PS3 did the opposite. Like, the 360 has bigger HDDs and a tendency not to die every ten minutes. The DS and PSP have offered better packages, though both have had features dropped in the process, I suppose. The Wii may or may not see improvements, depending on Nintendo's whim, but they're unlikely to drop features. Which is good, because one downgrade and they'll be an NES.

Worse, production costs simply have to have gone down enough to make such losses fairly unnecessary. I know their processor's a bitch, but even then.
