Did not see this one coming.....

CSL 06-08-2009 07:15 PM

Huh. 2nd strange release in a week or 2. Punk'll be next

Supreme Olajuwon 06-08-2009 07:16 PM

What? Fuck that.

Inadequacy 06-08-2009 07:17 PM

Well that sucks.

Savio 06-08-2009 07:17 PM

Wow that was unexpected

thedamndest 06-08-2009 07:17 PM

Hope he likes Umaga tattoos.

Testicle 06-08-2009 07:19 PM

Wow, his work has been good, I bet there was some back stage stuff going on.

Splaya 06-08-2009 07:20 PM

WHAT THE FUCK

owenbrown 06-08-2009 07:24 PM

What the fuck is going on? :wtf:

Savio 06-08-2009 07:24 PM

Apparently John Cena bad mouthed him to Vince. Dunno why

CSL 06-08-2009 07:25 PM

Don't believe that for a second :-\

Rammsteinmad 06-08-2009 07:29 PM

Damn! Was fucking loving Smackdowns main event scene at the moment, and Umaga has been pulling out some really good stuff lately.

Halbowsky 06-08-2009 07:34 PM

And just when he starts talking.

First Kennedy, then Batista doesn't get future endeavored for being injured again, then Umaga gets future endeavored...

Something really doesn't seem right about everything... :?:

Evil Vito 06-08-2009 07:35 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Shit, they really are trying to cut back costs lately. Kennedy and Umaga's releases were both surprising...have to figure they were both making decent money.</font>

Rob 06-08-2009 07:36 PM

You saying Batista should be fired?

Because if you are then you are a moron.

And if you aren't, well then you aren't a moron :)

Umaga is talent though. I don't know why they got rid of him.

Samoa Joe vs Samoa Jamal

CSL 06-08-2009 07:40 PM

Umaga > Joe over the last 2 years

NeanderCarl 06-08-2009 07:40 PM

WWE apparently has zero desire to create longterm stars for the future. Even the guys they get over short term in high card spots get the chop a couple of years later on a McMahon whim.

Umaga (and Kennedy) may not have been vital to the WWE of today, but may well have turned out vital to the WWE of tomorrow.

DarKCentaur 06-08-2009 07:40 PM

TNA must be creaming their pants as of late.

NeanderCarl 06-08-2009 07:42 PM

Hmmm... I can see them picking up Kennedy, but not so sure bout Umaga... I reckon he's Japan bound.

Should be released...no he should.

Should be given the WWE Championship even though he can't wrestle a full match in his current condition....yea, that was dumb.

JT 06-08-2009 07:45 PM

Hey, idk about you guys, but my friends were loving Umanga as of late. If TNA doesn't consider picking up a hot wrestler like Umanga then they must be idio...oh yeaaaaa....

Supreme Olajuwon 06-08-2009 07:45 PM

Umaga was great. Way better than any of the other evil foreign monsters like Kozlov and Khali.

Halbowsky 06-08-2009 07:47 PM

I also find it a bit interesting that wwe.com announced this under their "WWE NEWS" section while they announced Kennedy under their "INDUSTRY NEWS" section

JT 06-08-2009 07:47 PM

I also find this a bit shocking on the tails of a PPV where I've heard some people give him better reviews then his partner CM Punk. I mean I could see Kennedy (guys been a bit of a waste in the last year or more), but this is a shocker. I was expexting Candice to be on her way out before Umanga.

I reckon one of those two guys could be next on the chopping block.

Of the two, Khali has the following in India which has apparently added to WWE's popularity over there... but Koslov by far has the most potential to actually go somewhere in future. He's no spring chicken, but he's still learning, and he has a good heel presence... he looks like a scary badass.

If I had to choose, I'd drop Khali and employ Dutt as the 'token Indian' to maintain the popularity.

Dorkchop 06-08-2009 07:49 PM

This is very surprising. I'm going to assume there were some things backstage that we didn't know about.

WWE needs to release the untalented divas. No one cares about them.

If they did that they'd need to hold a Diva Search to replace them.

DO YOU WANT TO SUBJECT US TO THAT!?

Dutt is pretty tiny though. WWE doesn't like really tiny guys that aren't Rey. He can be pretty fun in the ring though. Too bad there isn't a place for guys like him in the company. Hopefully things can change soon. They won't.

DarKCentaur 06-08-2009 07:52 PM

If TNA picked up Trevor Murdoch, surely they'd be interested in Umaga. Also, while Sonjay Dutt is better than Khali by leaps and bounds, isn't Khali some kind of national hero in India? He's a much bigger asset to the company as far as PR is concerned.

erickman 06-08-2009 08:02 PM

time for the island boys to join tna's tag div, guess they will be in joes an tazzzes nat of vilance

Londoner 06-08-2009 08:07 PM

Stupid fucking wwe. Just as they were going in the right direction with him they release him.

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah...as shit as Khali might be in the ring, I'd be sad if he got released cause he donates a large portion of his income to India. Great guy.</font>

Depends really. Depends whether WWE thinks Khali himself is the attraction, or having a national representative as a hero is the attraction. It's not like Khali is a main eventer or top contender anymore, so what difference does it make if Sonjay Dutt slips into the Indian national hero role? They'll both be about as successful as each other, except one of them can work great matches, and the other one is a physical mess.

It also depends how much Khali is earning. I think that in the recession, nobody is safe from the chop, no matter how unexpected it may seem, unless they are bonafide main eventers or can't miss future prospects who haven't totally flopped.

Shame to say it, but I reckon Kane will be under consideration too if they are spring cleaning. Also, Mark Henry (and Tony Atlas). Basically, all tenured guys who have clearly peaked and can't really headline anymore (or never really did), but probably earn healthy wages due to their longevity.

As for Umaga, I think TNA may be interested but I reckon Umaga will choose to go to Japan, not be forced there out of lack of opportunities in the US.

NeanderCarl 06-08-2009 08:14 PM

Hmmm, I think Regal could fall into the "tenured + peaked = off you endeavour" category.

CSL 06-08-2009 08:15 PM

Regal is tight with Trips. I think he stands a good shot at getting an agent job when he's done. Then again, I didn't see Kennedy or Umaga coming

redoneja 06-08-2009 08:17 PM

Wow. I was enjoying his work since he's been back on Smackdown.

Savio 06-08-2009 08:17 PM

I can't see Kane going

Regal has a past history of shining in roles out of the ring so I think he's safe
