I was watching some stuff from the pre invasion days of 2001 and I started watching alot of Right to Censor and I want to ask, what did you think Right To Censor Yay or Nay? As much as I'd like to talk about B2, Dr. Stevie and Pappa Shango I'm just wondering what you thought of them durring the Right to Censor days. It was actually a very solid stable when you look back at it. They were several established wrestlers who didnt nessisarily fall into the traditonal stable format. (the muscle, the leader, the other guy, the high flyer, etc) It started with Stevie and Bull Buchanan frist censoring wrestlers like Val Venis, and the Godfather who were very sexual characters and then "converted" them to his side. They were then joined by Ivory and began to protest wrestlers like the Dudley, the APA, and Tazz who were known for there violent behavior. They also forced Billy Gunn to drop his Mr. Ass gimmick and become known as "The One" Billy Gunn. They were eventually disbanded and besides Bull they all went back to there original gimmicks. I liked the stable, Stevie was great on the mike and all of the members were solid so I'm gonna give RTC a solid YAY.

Yay, but I wish they didn't have Bull Buchanan.

SammyG 06-10-2009 02:13 AM

Annoying as fuck

Hornicane 06-10-2009 03:27 AM

Loved the RTC.

dronepool 06-10-2009 04:57 AM

Annoying.

XL 06-10-2009 07:47 AM

Were they not supposed to be annoying?

I think they did a fine job of getting over. I was always waiting for Mark Henry to join up as well.

YAY

Disturbed316 06-10-2009 08:55 AM

Any group lead by Stevie is a win.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-10-2009 09:20 AM

Yay up until the point when they had the Godfather and Val Venis. That was overkill.

Richards and Ivory were both great.

Loose Cannon 06-10-2009 10:50 AM

YAY. great gimmick and stable. This was Richard's greatest moment

Disturbed316 06-10-2009 10:55 AM

What about Stevie Night Heat?

Xero 06-10-2009 02:54 PM

Not only was Richards awesome, Vince can be great when he's fired up.

The Gold Standard 06-10-2009 03:01 PM

I really didn't hate them, but I didn't like them. So Meh for me

Evil Vito 06-10-2009 03:22 PM

Definite yay. I was slowly becoming more and more smarky back then, and even so I wanted to punch Steven in the face. They were annoying as hell and got over, so it worked. Looking back, I realize how great this was.

Lock Jaw 06-10-2009 03:24 PM

Yay. Greatest theme song ever.

Shadow 06-10-2009 04:04 PM

I hated them....SO I MUST LOVE THEM!

Gertner 06-10-2009 04:09 PM

Pretty awesome gimmick.

Comrade Canadia 06-10-2009 04:18 PM

I loved the gimmick, but they never really grabbed me that much.

Londoner 06-10-2009 07:23 PM

Hated them at the time but would've liked them now.

This

It was a clever (and blame shifting) way of toning down some of the most extreme elements of the Attitude era in readiness for the move of Raw to TNN... notice how when the members later returned to their "original" gimmicks, they were toned right down? Godfather no longer pimped hos but run a "legitimate escort service", and Val Venis rarely ever referenced his porn star credentials and changed his official ring name to The Big Valbowski.

It was also a nice satirical swipe at the PTC. And it was a heat magnet, at least to begin with. Kinda had a very limited shelf life and outlived it by too long, even though they were together, what? Less than a year?

Yeah RTC... "yay" at first, "meh" by the time it died.

NeanderCarl 06-10-2009 07:32 PM

In fact, the current PG philosophy of WWE isn't a sudden development. They've been crawling towards it for years.

They started toning things down as soon as they went public, SmackDown was always a much tamer show than Raw, and Raw became a lot less risque when they moved to TNN. Don't get me wrong, they've had their vulgar moments along the way (and probably will continue to do so) but the tamer WWE (compared to the 1997-1999 edgy Attiude prime) kicked in circa late 2000.

Stealth-Icon 06-10-2009 10:49 PM

I really couldn't stand anyone in the group RTC. But I did like many of the characters before they joined.

thecc 06-11-2009 01:49 AM

I hated them when I was a kid. Stevie rocked that role he was given. Although as mentioned before, the group itself got out of control.

Zeeboe 06-11-2009 02:01 AM

Yeah, I thought they were a great stable. They were a perfect spoof of all the real life groups out there who hated the sexual and violent things going on in WWE at the time. I thought it was funny whenever the theme music would go off during a diva match, and Stevie would go out, and put a big bag over the divas. lol.

AJHayes 06-11-2009 04:22 PM

It was good for the time and I'm glad it lasted a short time. Yay for me.

Testicle 06-11-2009 05:38 PM

Yay. Stevie on the mic is always a good thing. :y:

It was a good gimic that did draw alot of heat in a time where there were not alot of true heels.
