Better Video Game (N64 Edition)
This days match up:
Mario 64 vs Zelda OoT http://www.jonbu.com/wp-content/uplo...02/mario64.png vs http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/ar...618830-000.jpg |
OoT is one of my all time favorites.
Mario revolutionized my favorite genre. However, I feel the 2D Mario games are FAR superior to any of the 3D ones. So OoT. |
Define Video Game.
:shifty: |
what do you mean?
|
I've gone Mario.
I'm not sure if I actually feel it's the better game, but after playing playing through the PS1 and Saturn 3D shite (Saturn was a BEAST for 2D at least) it was the first game that made me think "Huh, this 3rd dimension thing finally makes fucking sense!". Plus you could surf on shells, which was awesome. |
OoT. So much depth to the game (despite the omission of the Hyrule theme).
You're going to run out of "good" N64 games pretty soon. |

I went with Mario, as it is probably my favorite Mario game ever. Have played it all the way through many many times.
Hard decision though. |
I went with OoT. So much to do and a lot of fun stuff to use while doing it.
Not that I didn't love Mario 64, I thought it was great. But I agree with Xero in that the 2-D titles were/are much better. I still say that SMB3 is the greatest Mario game ever. |
Started too big. I refuse to put one of these games over the other because they are both amazing and are two of my favorite N64 games.
|
perhaps I did but I really wanted to have this match up and this is the only way I could Guarantee it. I'm only doing this with the "Big ones"
|
OoT for the win.
|
This was ridiculously tough, but in the end my tattoo told me to go with Mario.
It was the first game I played on my N64, and I remember being baffled as to where the hell to go and how to control it. lol |
Mario does have the "revolutionary" factor going for it, and I'd say that it is more fun to just pick up and play a level or let someone try out (back in '96/'97), but Zelda is just far more engaging and exciting, and overall more awesome game.
I never owned a copy of Mario 64, but got Zelda 64 when it first came out - I think it is a gold cartridge too (I know that my copy of the second n64 Zelda game is gold). |
Went with Mario. I've played a number (but by no means all) of the Zelda games and enjoyed them enough, but was never super gung-ho about them like everyone else in the world seems to be. Mario64 on the other hand is probably my favourite platformer ever.
|
I must confess im not a big zelda fan, however OoT is definitely my favorite
|
Mario 64 hands down for me.
