The Rock return?

I have found no sources anywhere to back this up, but if you go to the Wikipedia page on The Rock you'll find the following statement under "Sporadic Appearences 2004-2008":

Quote:

As of 2009, this was Rock's last match. On Friday 12th June, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson met with Vincent Kennedy McMahon to Discuss a possible Return to the ring. Negotiations are said to be ongoing.
No, I didn't put it there.

The grammar in it is pretty atrocious, so I'll assume it's someone just making shit up.

Jannettyzilla 06-13-2009 05:01 AM

Thought so too, not to mention that his popularity hasn't waned in Hollywood. Just putting it out there in case anyone knows more.

I agree, but just because the grammar is shit, doesnt mean its made up, this is the internet after all.

Do I think this is real, no. But hey I can hope.

Is it cited? If not - fake. Simple as that.

ClockShot 06-13-2009 08:08 AM

He dropped in once and cut a promo for when Trump/McMahon had their thing at Wrestlemania. Right?

Even though it was taped earlier.

Nicky Fives 06-13-2009 11:19 AM

Even if he did come back, 3/4 of the fans wouldn't even know who he was.... which is a complete shame.... do I think The Rock will return to the WWE? not a chance.... but we can all dream.....

Dorkchop 06-13-2009 11:23 AM

The Rock will never return to wrestling. Dwayne Johnson might.

Face it if the guy returned it wouldn't be that special. Unless he came back permanently, how many people would care?

Can we ban this guy for being a moron? PLEASE?!

#1-norm-fan 06-13-2009 01:52 PM

lol. Seriously. I read that "3/4 of the fans wouldn't know who he was" line like 3 times just to make sure I wasn't misreading it.

kareru 06-13-2009 01:54 PM

do you remember a couple of years ago when he made a special guest apperance on raw, it was like happy hour with the rock, to me he sounded pissed and then he said to someone in the crowd

'sit down man you drunk you drunk'

thats what drunk people do

I really doubt that.

Hmmm, that's true. Remember the stoney silence and yawns he was met with at the Hall of Fame last year? Yeah, WWE might as well not bother ever asking him back.

lol i'll try and find the vid

Mr. Nerfect 06-13-2009 08:42 PM

I think the best chance the WWE has of getting The Rock back, is if Dwayne Johnson wants to do children's movies. If he's got a few Disney projects lined up, with the WWE taking a new "kid friendly" approach, making an appearance here or there serves as cross-promotion.

I mean, let's face it -- the reason people see Dwayne Johnson in movies, if they see movies because of him at all, is because he was "The Rock." It doesn't seem like Johnson is putting himself in any positions to win an Academy Award in the future, so he might as well keep his pop-culture star as bright as he can.

Of course, that's not the way it will go down, but I think that's Vince's best shot to getting The Rock to wrestle John Cena.

*Phew*

I thought it was just me struggling there. I thought for a moment that I might have had an aneurysm.

thedamndest 06-14-2009 03:09 PM

Better chance of Doom 2 being given the green light than the Rock making a return.

Savio 06-14-2009 03:43 PM

Yeah the rock is never coming back outside of a few small appearances

I thought it was now universally accepted that Kevin Sullivan snuffed all three of them?
