Better Movie #8

Can anybody stop the Forrest Gump juggernaut? Indiana Jones gave it his best shot but fell just short of pulling off a win. Now, it's only one more Forrest victory and we will have our very first member of the TPWW Movie Hall of Fame.

HOWEVER, in order for Gump & Co. to achieve TPWW immortality, they will have to win a bitter, brutal grudge match. It's a return bout from the 1995 Academy Awards. Gump won then, but can he do it again?

Polls are open for three days. Happy voting.

Shawshank is one of the most influential movies in the last 20 years. Forrest was popular for a while, but has since gone away. Shawshank is still one of the most popular movies and is constantly referenced.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-13-2009 11:40 AM

What? Forrest Gump has not gone away at all.

Anybody Thrilla 06-13-2009 01:24 PM

I still feel that life is like a box of chocolates. I feel that Shawshank may actually be a better movie in terms of....I dunno, technical bullshit, but I'm voting Forrest Gump because I just enjoyed it more.

Xero 06-13-2009 01:36 PM

Only went with Gump because I haven't seen Shawshank yet.

Me too. Which really isn't fair when you think about it... but "them's the breaks".

Shawshank, hands down. Just an amazing movie in every sense of the word.

I voted Shawshank, purely because it's the type of movie I am 'into'. I still find myself quoting it today. Forrest was great also, and I also find myself quoting it today :'(

Shawnshank. Easily.

The Pope 06-13-2009 07:07 PM

I hate both

Gump has been one of my favorite movies since I first saw it now almost 15 years ago..BUT..I just did see Shawshank Redemption for the first time and I was pissed off at myself for not catching it at some point earlier on TNT or whatever.

Very tough call, and maybe if I had seen Redemption a few more times to appreciate the small details like I do in Gump it might have even been tougher but I'll go with Gump.

TSR.

Not only was it better (I said it) but Gump is pissing me off.

OssMan 06-14-2009 03:25 AM

Shawshank Redemption had a really profound effect on me. I think I came away from it with a different "outlook" or whatever. I love Forrest Gump for what it is, but Shawshank Redemption is something I feel like I can go back to again and again and still get something from it.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-15-2009 02:33 AM

still another day a half left to vote

Gump's Hall of Fame chances seem to be slipping away to Zihuatanejo

Seth82 06-15-2009 03:59 PM

Shawshank was and still is one of my favorite movies of all time so it gets my vote easily over Forrest Gump

The only good thing about Gump was the soundtrack...

Triple A 06-16-2009 04:48 AM

I think I am "missing" something about Shawshank Redemption.

It is easily the most overrated movie I have ever seen in my life.

#2 on imdb. Everyone <3s it. Just don't know. Tried to watch it a second time also recently. Still didn't "get" it.
