Smackdown is the best WWE show out there

...not that they have improved in heaps and bounces. It's just that the flagship show is going downhill.

Next week they are planning to have 3 World Championship matches on Raw which definitely shows how desperate they are. Wait a minute! I thought the draft was suppose to be effective after the Backlash ppv? Oh well!

@WWEJoeyStyles I just want to make clear that the passionate hostile thread posted here is mine personally and not in any way those of WWE, Inc.

Anybody Thrilla 06-13-2009 01:05 PM

Are these the thoughts of Guru Dave or Joey Styles?

Regardless, yes, Smackdown is the best right now.

DAMN iNATOR 06-13-2009 01:12 PM

But SmackDown! has definitely way improved quality over some of the more recent years...

Anybody Thrilla 06-13-2009 01:18 PM

Indeed.

Nicky Fives 06-13-2009 01:40 PM

Smackdown is great, but when you have Edge/Jericho/Hardy/Mysterio in the main event, how can you go wrong?

Mr. C 06-13-2009 03:40 PM

SmackDown is better than RAW, but I watch RAW because of the timeslot. If I were allowed to choose one wrestler to get re-signed to SmackDown, the one person I’d love to see is Brock Lesnar, by far. Lesnar vs. Punk just for starts!

SmackDown also has some better options for commentator available to them. Paul Heyman was fantastic when he was on RAW and worked very well with Jim Ross. Todd Grisham should stay backstage.

Oh, and switch Justin Roberts for Tony Chimmel. Roberts worked in ECW, and Chimmel should be working on SmackDown.

I’ve barely watched SmackDown since it moved to Friday nights, but I’d make an effort if, clearly a stretch, we had Lesnar and JR & Heyman were doing commentary.

Anybody Thrilla 06-13-2009 04:54 PM

You guys should look into DVR. It's marvelous.

St. Jimmy 06-13-2009 04:58 PM

Disagree. If it's not Live, it's not worth watching.

I don't get this kind of mentality. Smackdown is not live but is better by MILES.

Sounds like guru dave got threatened by Vince McMahon

well thats because there is no Batista, HHH, or Cena

Fox 06-13-2009 07:59 PM

Smackdown is easily the best wrestling show around today, primarily because younger, more entertaining faces are being regularly utilized in the main event scene (Edge, Jeff Hardy, Punk, Jericho, Mysterio) instead of the usual suspects on RAW (Cena, Batista, Triple H, Orton, HBK).

Mr. Nerfect 06-13-2009 08:36 PM

The workers actually get time to tell stories in the ring, too. They are also used to the best of their ability. For example, while Charlie Haas was entertaining in his impersonating gimmick on RAW, he never got to show off his wrestling skill. Michael Hayes has just given Haas the platform to be Charlie Haas -- expert wrestler, and it's working almost as well as anything in Haas' WWE career has.

impact is better than smackdown

By being a Rey Mysterio fan.

Agreed.

Londoner 06-14-2009 08:37 AM

Oh and i've been wondering recently whether JR is a big part of the writing staff on smackdown...it could explain a lot.

Savio 06-14-2009 12:23 PM

I wish it had a better timeslot

Zeeboe 06-14-2009 12:26 PM

Ya know, some people (myself included) have complained that there is no competition in wrestling anymore, but Vince truly had the right idea when he spilt the brand up, cause by doing so, he created a rivarly between Raw and Smackdown. It seems most fans only watch one show. I'd be okay with checking out SM, but I don't have the channel. So Raw it is.

Savio 06-14-2009 01:10 PM

No there really is not comp between brands I'd watch both if one wasn't late on friday.

Lock Jaw 06-14-2009 03:19 PM

I just catch Smackdown on dailymotion or something sometime over the weekend. Just finished watching this weeks.

Innovator 06-14-2009 04:57 PM

Smackdown is amazing

Now if only Vince could get people to watch all four of his shows, he'd be laughing.

Thanks for the update
