Better Athlete #4

Wow, really thought the last round would have been closer. With Wimbeldon starting today, let's see how Kobe does this time.

Krimzon7 06-22-2009 10:46 PM

Let's just go ahead and put Kobe up against Jordan. This is the only way people will ever vote against him.

Bad Company 06-22-2009 11:36 PM

They are both way too different to be in competition with each other.

RatedGSuperstar 06-23-2009 12:11 AM

I budged on the idea of matching up guys from different sports, but I don't think it's very fair to match up a team sport guy against a solo sport guy. Federer has racked up more accolades than anyone this side of Tiger Woods.

With that said, Kobe gets my vote. You could make a very good argument that the only reason why Federer is about to break Pete Sampras' major championships record is because he's played in a pretty weak era for men's tennis. Nadal is his only true adversary, and he's only come on as a legit contender in the past couple years. Kobe is playing in the most competitive era of NBA basketball since the early 1990's and gets more than his fair share of votes for best player of the era.

Gertner 06-23-2009 12:54 AM

This is retarded. Federer is a much better athlete than Kobe.

CSL 06-23-2009 12:57 AM

Federer is one of the best ever in his sport, dunno if that can be said about Kobe yet

I dunno. Kobe is a fantastic athlete, yes. He's one of the great basketball players, yes.
Still, I can think of at least 8 guys aside from Jordan who I'd put over Kobe, just in Basketball.

Then there are the other sports, where there are many that I'd put above him as well.

Triple Naitch, I ask that you go back further than this decade in your next pick. All of your choices have been current athletes, and there are decades of great athletes at your disposal.

Brujesino 06-23-2009 03:35 AM

kobe easily

Downunder 06-23-2009 10:55 AM

Going with Federer because I don't know who the fuck that other guy is.

Gertner 06-23-2009 03:04 PM

Gotta have the winner go up against someone like Ali.

Boxers IMO are the best athletes. I used to amateur box, and when I started I was a pretty decent athlete, but dodging punches while throwing them for even a round gases u out like you wouldn't believe, let alone 12-15 rounds.

toxic rooster 06-23-2009 03:16 PM

Gonna go with Federer

When was the last time a 'basketball game' lasted 5 hours?

Gertner 06-23-2009 03:55 PM

Kobe playing 40-42 minues vs Federer running around the court for 2-4 hours. How the fuck is Kobe even remotely close?

Gertner 06-23-2009 03:56 PM

Not to mention Kobe is playing in a climate controlled arena while Federer is out sometime in triple digit temps.

I plan on mixing things up eventually. I'm starting with current athletes who everybody has seen and is familiar with. Then I will use athletes from previous decades and also include some strange rounds such as John Daly vs. Mo Vaughn.

DaveWadding 06-23-2009 07:30 PM

you could put the San Diego Chicken up against Kobe Bryant and I'd vote Chicken.

Jeritron 06-24-2009 12:19 AM

Mo Vaughn is clearly HOF bound

Skippord 06-24-2009 12:46 AM

Federer

he's amazing. and he looks slightly like Quentin Tarantino

OssMan 06-25-2009 10:36 PM

Oh no, one of these athletes plays with air conditioning. Due to that I just can't take him seriously

Juan 06-26-2009 05:31 AM

Scottie Pippen : "To say who's the greatest player of all time - you may have to give that to Michael right now because of what he was able to accomplish in the game as an individual, from a team standpoint," revealed Pippen. "He was at the top in every aspect of the game - offensively as well as defensively. Has Kobe met that yet? No. Will he? Maybe not. But does that make him less of a player than Michael was? No it does not. I think he's the best player in the league right now in my eyes still. I know LeBron has shown great signs of being great and he's definitely a better all around player than Kobe, but I think Kobe is definitely the greatest player in this generation."

Gertner 06-26-2009 02:46 PM

That's nice. He's still not a better athlete than Federer.

Juan 06-26-2009 05:08 PM

Clearly

SammyG 07-01-2009 07:11 AM

LOL are you kidding me? Federer is a better athlete than Kobe Bryant? you people are fucking stupid.

yeah, running around in a air conditioned arena with 4 team mates beats a guy playing tennis in 100 degree weather for 5 hours anyway:roll:
