House of Sand and Fog

Wow, anyone see this? I went into it thinking it would be a typical overrated as shit Oscar nominated movie, but wow, it was so ****ing good.

Basically, the plot is that a woman gets evicted from her house because of a tax mistake by the city and her house is auctioned. After the mistake is realized, it's too late and the house is already sold to a middle eastern family. So, it's basically her trying to get her house back from the family, but they also need the house.

It is amazing. It's really depressing shit, which I love.

Watch it. 10/10

You really seem to like movies done by Focus Features.

This, 21 Grams, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and so on.

Triple A 04-01-2004 03:14 PM

Focus Features is the goods.

Triple A 04-01-2004 03:16 PM

I don't think it's from Focus Features though...

The Mask 04-01-2004 03:17 PM

It is.

When I rented 21 Grams earlier, it had this little thing on all the Focus Features movies, and it was in there. It's funny because they were like "Focus Features delivers only the best quality movies" and then they listed all the awesome movies that were out in the last year.

Reading the book right now, I'm going to watch the movie after I'm done

Mr. Nerfect 04-06-2004 03:09 AM

What genre is this movie? I have a feeling it's sort of a dramatic tpye one, but I'm not sure.

Boondock Saint 04-06-2004 03:30 AM

Yeah, I've heard it's depressing and only becomes more so as it goes on.

Triple A 04-06-2004 03:31 AM

Drama, asshole.

Mr. Nerfect 04-06-2004 03:41 AM

Were you calling me an asshole because I didn't know anything about a movie that I didn't even know existed?

Triple A 04-06-2004 03:49 AM

I dunno probably.

Mr. Nerfect 04-06-2004 03:55 AM

Oh OK. Glad that's all cleared up. ;)

Seriously though, I dunno if this was even released over here. I hope it was because you have a very good taste in movies Triple A, so if you say it's a 10/10, it's a must watch. :y:

Guess I'll have to wait a while and see if it will be released on DVD over here.

DaveWadding 04-13-2004 03:47 AM

Holy jesus. What an awesome movie. Worth my $1.07 for renting it

Mr. Nerfect 04-13-2004 03:50 AM

Is the book worth a read first, or does the movie run on the thrill of you not knowing how things are going to get worse for her?

DaveWadding 04-13-2004 03:59 AM

I didn't read the book...:-\

$1.07? Damn. What are the prices at your video store?

DaveWadding 04-13-2004 04:02 AM

I had a coupon for Blockbuster...

paying 4 bucks to rent a movie isn't my style.
