Top WWE SD Star Injured Last Night; Possible Plans

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE RE: EDGE'S POSSIBLE ANKLE INJURY
- We received a report last night from a fan in attendance at the SmackDown/ECW live event in San Diego saying Edge was injured during his match with Jeff Hardy. The fan says Edge was running towards Jeff when it appeared he twisted or broke his ankle and that his foot was in a very awkward position. The match was stopped, EMT's came running to Edge and he was helped to the back but not before he told the fans "sorry" on the mic.

Furthermore, Dave Meltzer says the injury may be a torn Achilles tendon and that they had only been actually wrestling for about a minute. This would be a serious injury for one-half of the WWE Unified Tag Team Champions that would likely require surgery and put him out of action for a while.

Meltzer also reports that WWE are most likely going to try and figure out a way to get the belts on Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase and if you haven't read RAW spoilers for next week, we will find out more about that on Monday. Word is that WWE is looking at footage of the Edge vs. The Great Khali match taped on Wednesday night for next Friday's SmackDown to see if there's a spot in the match where they can claim a storyline injury happened.

We'll keep you updated.

Damn, I really wanted to see where this with him and Jericho was going to go.

DAMN iNATOR 07-04-2009 08:55 AM

On a lighter note about Edge, he did win the title on the episode of SmackDown! 7 years ago on a 4th of July SmackDown!

That was the one time I ever marked for Hogan, and that was because of his awesome red, white, and blue boa he wore...

I still remember watching SD! that night, what a treat it was to see Hogan with old glory and a patriotic boa. That was the one time I wasn't ashamed to root for him.

fucking fucking damnit.

Nicky Fives 07-04-2009 10:33 AM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Kane Knight 07-04-2009 10:43 AM

YESSSSSS!

ON THIS DAY! I SEE CLEARLY! TELEVISION WITHOUT EDGE!

Evil Vito 07-04-2009 11:12 AM

<font color=goldenrod>God damn...I really wanted to see Jericho and Edge.

Guessing when Edge recovers they'll jump right into the eventual feud...but then again it could be a long recovery if it is really serious.</font>

KK hates everything.

Afterlife 07-04-2009 11:23 AM

Except maybe KK.

GD 07-04-2009 11:30 AM

It's okay Edge you have given us much. It's high time you rested for a while. :wavesad:

Oh man, you don't need to tell me... But I can't believe there is wrestling fans out there that don't think Edge is the most entertaining person on the roster.

Yeah, wouldn't take what KK says on this subject seriously. Its always something negative it seems from him.

What Would Kevin Do? 07-04-2009 01:11 PM

Hopefully he's ought for a bit...

The only reason I say this, is if Punk's heel turn takes off, and he becomes a mega-heel, they can have him be insanely dominant, only for Edge to return as a massive face to feud with him.

Londoner 07-04-2009 01:12 PM

True, but this also means jericho can't appear on all the shows. :(

What Would Kevin Do? 07-04-2009 01:52 PM

Jericho could probably find a replacement partner to defend his titles with...

I like Edge.

No way I'd put him as the most entertaining person on the roster though.

Johnny Vegas 07-04-2009 03:14 PM

They should have Jericho and Ziggler as a unit. Have both on promos come out in suits like Jericho already does. Blaming them losing matches or whatnot are all part of a "plan" and shit like Jericho already does, just have Ziggler do it too. Not to mention a vet/rookie type of relationship.

Hey, this could turn into something bigger i just thought about. Jericho gets Ziggy and one or two more people to join him as a faction that wears suits, believes in conspiracy theories, sort of like a corporation looking team. This can give Jericho even MORE massive heat than he already generates. Ziggy can be kind of like "The Rock" was with the corporation back in the day. This can get him waaay over because his attitude can be laid back, break rules, not give a shit, etc. Then him and Jericho have a fued leading up WM or next year. That would be cool.

Have Jericho claim that he made Dolph, and Dolph claim Dolph made Dolph. Have Jericho and his crew do whatever to Dolph, ganging up on him, when out of the blue, John Morrison comes for the save. Next time, Shelton or MVP come out for the save. They can form a stable bitches...there yoiu go, i should definitely write for WWE.

Shaggy 07-04-2009 03:20 PM

Wonder if they thought of doing the match with cutting in footage from an old match of Edge getting hurt like they did when Edge went against Taker.

Xero 07-04-2009 03:40 PM

From PWInsider:

The Edge ankle injury is a torn Achilles heel tendon, something that depending on the severity, could keep him out of the ring until January 2010.

Obviously, WWE is going to have to figure out a plan to move the Unified Tag titles off of Edge and Chris Jericho shortly.

====

Fuck.

Londoner 07-04-2009 03:52 PM

Gonna be a big return for Edge and probably a face turn when he comes back, just in time for wrestlemania.

Dorkchop 07-04-2009 03:55 PM

Booooooooooo.

I don't think there's anyone that can replace Edge, but I wonder if there's anyone suitable for Jericho to team with. Christian would be kind of cool, but that's not going to happen.

It's one of the main reasons why Kane Knight, despite being a fairly intelligent man, will never get ahead in life. Bad attitude, and too much negativity.

I know this post doesn't really belong on the wrestling forum, but I think it bears worth mentioning since there are kids on this forum.......many of which look up to Kane Knight.

You can have all the intelligence and debating skills in the world, but ultimately, if you have a bad attitude, you'll just end up being a loser that blames Conservatives and Hunter Hearst Helmsley for all of the negative things in life.

Lock Jaw 07-04-2009 04:06 PM

That sucks.

Is this the first time Edge is going to be out due to injury? I don't remember him ever being out on injury.

Actually, same with Jericho. Never seen him out injured.

DAMN iNATOR 07-04-2009 04:36 PM

Now watch Vince's brilliant ass spin the tag situation into gold, and then probably once we've all forgotten about Edge being out (HA! As if...), or Vince thinks the IWC has forgotten it, and they think they can get away with it, they'll probably pull an "Edge as a surprise Rumble entrant @ #30, and then he wins the Rumble" deal (see: Cena, 2008, SIGH:nono:), which could be gold if the last 3 are him, Christian, and Jericho.

Oh, and anyone who DIDN'T know that KK is a narcissistic, hypocritical tapeworm of a cretin, must have been under a rock for the majority of his 126,648 posts.

FourFifty 07-04-2009 04:43 PM

Chris Jericho/Christian.
Problem solved.

He had 18 months off with a broken freaking neck

Jericho + Harts + Freebird rule = excellence.

Ahhh right.

But that was back when breaking your freakin' neck was all the rage with wrestlers.

They are probably going to look for something similar to what the IWC already knows happened at the house show, or try to edit some footage in the match to make it appear as if Edge sustained the injury during this match and not last night at a house show.

TheHaunted 07-04-2009 06:05 PM

Hopefully they'll find Jericho another partner or something like that.
If they don't, what part will he play at NOC?

I want you, and the others who posted in response to KK's post, that you are all tools. Comments like "YES, EDGE IS GONE!" are obvious attempts to get a rise out of you and the others. Considering the common stigmata around Edge on TPWW is that he's one of the best workers in the company, he says the opposite to piss you people off and post against him, which probably just induces LOLZ.

So well played, right into his hands.

Also, maybe they should fire Edge. This is like the 4th time he's been injured.
