UFC's Ultimate 100 Greatest Fights

Anyone else watching the series? Curious what the UFC fans (it was an online poll) come up with as an order.

HeartBreakMan2k 07-05-2009 09:02 PM

All I know is Trigg/Hughes II had damn well better be on there.

Triple Naitch 07-05-2009 09:10 PM

I'm watching it.

HeartBreakMan2k 07-05-2009 09:16 PM

Absolutely loved that Hughes/Gracie match.

I know Hughes is a dickhead, I don't care; he is still one of my favorite fighters ever. And he's right it was wrestling that beat Royce, not BJJ.

Hopefully they show some of their older stuff too

They showed Newton/Pat already. Not real old, but pretty good.

Hopefully they show Tank try to toss Cal Worsham out of the cage. Not a good, or even decent fight by any means but it did make me mark out.

I'm calling the Griffin/Bonnar fight to be #1.

Loose Cannon 07-08-2009 02:59 PM

yes, watched it yesterday. great stuff.

IRodC 07-08-2009 03:17 PM

Still they said it was voted on by the fans which I know its bullcrap, they gave you the fights you chose the order.

Griffin-Bonnar will probably be #1 because of how much it did for the UFC.

I still think Frye vs. Takayama is the greatest fight of all time

When you have fighters clubbering ($5 to Virgil Runnels) each other almost endlessly, it's always a good time.

In terms of fan voting, forrest/bonnar might be number one because dana tells everyone that its the best fight and people are dumb and cant think for themselves and will vote that way

Just watched it and I enjoyed it. It was very entertaining, but it was a bad fight. Both guys just went swinging. No technique. Super fucking entertaining though.

I can't take this list seriously when they refused to list any fight where Tito Ortiz or Frank Shamrock won.

muffalufagus 07-11-2009 01:47 AM

I've never really watched any of Tito's fights besides against Ken Shamrock. Those really weren't anything special. I've never really liked Tito -- always thought he was overrated as fuck.

Rob 07-11-2009 03:37 AM

The Ortiz vs. Frank Shamrock fight should be top 5. I think it got voted #2 on the Wrestling Observer site. The Forrest Griffin and Vitor Belfort fights probably should have made the list too.

Question - How can you call anyone "overrated as fuck" when you just admitted you have seen him fight just one guy (who he killed 3 times by the way)?

Reavant 07-11-2009 04:08 AM

Tito was a total gate keeper of the division once he lost his title to randy. He couldnt beat the elite guys and he the guys he beat either improved or disappeared

Rob 07-11-2009 11:19 AM

Doesn't matter. Just because Dana White hates you, that should change what happened in the past. This isn't WWE where they want to rewrite the past.

McLegend 07-11-2009 11:30 AM

His 1st fight with Ken Shamrock should be on that list.

Loose Cannon 07-11-2009 11:46 AM

Tito Ortiz was money for the UFC and nobody can deny that

Loose Cannon 07-11-2009 11:47 AM

and still would be money just because he carries so much charisma with him

Rob 07-11-2009 11:56 AM

How credible is a WWE 100 greatest match list without Randy Savage or Chris Benoit?

Vastardikai 07-11-2009 01:16 PM

Or Bruno Sammartino.

YOUR Hero 07-11-2009 06:41 PM

saw quite a bit of it. It wasn't on from start to finish (at least here) it was 20 top fights an episode.

HeartBreakMan2k 07-11-2009 09:44 PM

Trigg/Hughes II came in at number 3. High enough I suppose, but easily my favorite fight of all time.
