TNA - Good Stuff
 

TNA is like Marmite on here, either you love it, or you hate it.

There's loads of anti-TNA threads, lets try to bring out the positives, I'm watching this weeks impact, so it's getting me motivated to write something.

I'll start with:

Mick Foley being pretty damn funny in his backstage skits this week talking about how his Tweet and Tweet picture not being part of the deal and getting the security guards to either use a sharpie to cover up the MEM logo, and then using gaffer tape as it's less residual

I like the way Don talks about how he speaks farsi with the Shiek, having tea with the Brits, and eatin sushi with Kiyoshi. He's a good oposite to Mike Tenay's "OMG" all the time. Also I like JB, he's an entertaining backstage interviewer. I actually perfer him to SoCal Val.

Pole matches are always entertaining.

The good stuff...

Don West is starting to remind me a little of a heel Jerry Lawler. Obviously, his one liners will never be as good as the king, but the way he kisses the ass of faces at the announce table or supports the heels in the ring...it feel right. One of the first things you notice about a televised wrestling show is the commentary, and I feel they are making great strides in making it work.

The idea behind the Beautiful People...it's good. Who they have to execute the idea, not so good. Yes, they're cocky, they're half good looking, but on the mic, they're all pretty wooden. It's clearly a position that demands someone with better mic skills.

The British Invasion are pretty cool. Williams can work!

Sarita and some other female wrestler had a decent women's match. Well...it didn't make me want to change the channel. Sarita was attacked after the match by the other girl.

Anything that brings Victoria back to my screen is a winner!

Alex Shelley...I think he's destined for greatness one day...Chris Fucking Sabin too. They'e the only guys I would like to see in WWE.

I read somewhere that they were gonna try and make the x-dividion a major title. that explains why joe almost won it.

I like quite a bit about TNA. A lot of my likes are theoretical, and sometimes stretched in practice, but here are some of them:

Kurt Angle as TNA World Heavyweight Champion is great. Angle is still one of the best workers in the world, and quite simply, probably the best. Who knows how long he'll be with TNA, but for the moment, Angle as the top guy in the promotion is fine with me. Bobby Lashley working with TNA is very good for them; I don't care what you say. Lashley has been really smart about his MMA career, and is working with TNA to both feed them and help himself out. This will be a controversial statement, but I have no problem with a Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Lashley main event at Bound For Glory. Samoa Joe as X-Division Champion is something I would not mind seeing. Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. Daniels is another match that I would not be opposed to seeing at Bound For Glory.

Matt Morgan has got the potential to be a major star in professional wrestling. I am still hoping that when Ken Anderson's 90-day compete clause is up, TNA signs him, and we get an alliance between Matt Morgan, Ken Anderson, Elijah Burke and Tara, complaining about how they are the overlooked stars in this industry. Hernandez having a title shot up his sleeve makes me very happy. Does he still have that? There is no reason that Hernandez should not cash that it and win his first World Title. Angle vs. Lashley could end with Angle still as World Champion, before Hernandez comes out to send the fans home happy with the title change?

I love how Don West says The Motor City Machine Guns reminds him of younger versions of himself.

Any company that keeps Stevie Richards employed is A-Okay in my book.

TNA's roster.

I've got to be honest, even though these things have not worked in the past -- the idea of TNA's entire roster at war could be pretty cool. As long as they don't completely branch them under one banner or another (like how the nWo consisted of so many fucking people). If it ends up like HBO's Oz, it could be really cool.

I mean, judging by how things are going to turn out, you'll have The Main Event Mafia aligned with World Elite against those that are just sort of against those guys. But everyone sort of keeps their own alliances. For example, The Motor City Machine Guns will probably stay exactly the way they are -- arrogant pricks against the world -- but they're technically fighting the "bad guys."

And what will then be interesting is the calm that washes over when someone comes in and tidies up TNA (in a kayfabe sense, and then hopefully in a booking sense). It might be the perfect way to introduce Dixie Carter in an on-air role (if just a one-off thing), or might even be a way to bring Jeff Jarrett back on-camera.

Yeah, I'm actually quite excited with the prospects of what could happen in TNA in the next few months.

Daniels and the X-Division.

The problem is that this would have been my answer 3 years ago too - TNA needs to start evolving before I can find anything else worth watching beyond the above and the Beautiful People.

Looking at the next few weeks of TV, it looks like Hernandez is going to be receiving a pretty good push. I'm all for that.
