Fan Influence?

I was thinking about this earlier, and I"m going to stick it out in the air here. How many of the major pushes do you think fans are responsible for, and how many of the big names do you think wouldn't be big names if it wasn't for the fans?

For example, Eddie G and John Cena. I think right now they have their spots because of the fans reaction to them, compared to a push for say Bradshaw, or A-Train.

I bring this up due to the recent polls WWE is going ( you know, the rigged one.) I hear people talking sarcastically about the WWE caring what the fans think... Do they?

Alot of them. I'd use both Austin and The Rock, as well as Goldberg as a reference. All highly fan based. Austin's push had a bit more detail to it than the others, but still a fan-based push.

I think 95% of pushes are due to fan reaction.

I think most pushes are motivated by:
Marriage
size
narcotics
spite

In that order.

Another example would be Lesnar's face push... He was turned too early, because the majority fans refused to boo him...

I would say that fans have a bit of influence in some aspects...

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Rock Bottom again.

Then why the hell did bob holly get a push, and continue to be pushed. I watched his match on smackdown against booker t and it sounded like the crowd was hot, then when you look at the people in the crowd they're hardly even moving. If they listened to the fans Holly and A-Train would be unemployed, Stephanie would never be on TV, Jericho would be main eventing and so much more would or would not happen.

That's what I'm talking about. It seems like ole Vince is trying to keep an even balance of "please the fan" and "piss off the fan." They push Holly, and Cena. They push A-Train, and Shelton. It seems like everytime they do something to please the fans, then they have to do something to annoy the hell out of them.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-03-2004 08:55 PM

Now that I think about it, maybe Vince pisses people off on purpose. Think about it, if he did everything the fans wanted, they'd be harder to impress... It's like Triple A's thoery of being an asshole. If you're an asshole to someone all the time, then when you compliment them, it means so much more to them. Maybe Vince realizes that by pissing off the fans constantly, when he does something good, they're more impressed.

Hmmm... Marriage therapy might be more of a casual forum thing.
