Rally Up!

...or not.

WWE has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Ricky Ortiz as of today, Aug. 8, 2009. We wish Ricky the best in all future endeavors.

Lord-Of-Darkness 08-08-2009 07:14 PM

Never cared for him really

Evil Vito 08-08-2009 07:14 PM

Seems like the new way to release people in WWE is to job them out within seconds, THEN cut them. First Kendrick, now Ortiz.

I thought Ortiz had some charisma to him...his motivational speaker gimmick seemed to get decent enough "someone please punch this guy in the face" heat. Ah well.

Innovator 08-08-2009 07:19 PM

Dude never had a chance

Afterlife 08-08-2009 08:31 PM

Thank God. That guy was Lame Central.

Nicky Fives 08-08-2009 08:41 PM

no big loss there.... don't think he had that "it" factor..... people can blame it on the gimmick.... but IMO he's just not that good

RGWhat316 08-08-2009 08:44 PM

I guess that means Tyler Reks will only last a few months as well. Seems like a similar guy.

thedamndest 08-08-2009 09:03 PM

Looks like they finally threw in the towel.

Ricky Ortiz Fired.

Just noticed it on the main page. Im posting from my phone, so I dont think I can copy it over. Credit Ryan Clarke or whatever.

Anyway, only saw him wrestle once and wasnt that impressed. Thoughts?

Seth82 08-09-2009 12:58 AM

He was still pretty damn green

CSL 08-09-2009 01:21 AM

Awww yeah, 'or not' catching fire RIGHT HERE on TPWW.net/forums/showthread.php?p=2665119

Jordan 08-09-2009 02:07 AM

They are so stupid. He would have been a better jobber than Tony Two Toes from Topeka.

STFU. Didn't see that. :p

Mr. Nerfect 08-09-2009 04:13 AM

I never really got into Ricky Ortiz, but I think the guy got it hard on here. He has charisma and could handle a mic well. He also had a good look -- his character just wasn't a really high priority. I mean, his finishing move was a splash. Ortiz is no Ultimate Warrior.

The man could have made a good mid-carder if allowed to develop more, but I guess he wasn't that young and wasn't ever going to be intentionally used as a main event talent. Not a grave loss for the company. Always sad to see someone lose a job, though.

Mr. Nerfect 08-09-2009 04:14 AM

It didn't help that he was on SmackDown!. He doesn't really seem to fit the type of show they are trying to put forward. He would work a lot better on RAW, where entertainment seems to be the first priority, and he would only need to go out there for three minutes on a good night. He could have squashed guys like Noble and Kendrick and gotten pretty over as a mid-card face.

A trade for Chavo Guerrero, or something, would have been good a while back.

A7X 08-09-2009 05:55 AM

They did one thing right......fire that piece of shit.

St. Jimmy 08-09-2009 05:59 AM

WOOOOOO!

Londoner 08-09-2009 06:01 AM

Can't say I care too much, vince was obviously bored and felt like firing someone. I swear he does this atleast once a week now...

NoRoolz 08-09-2009 06:27 AM

Not really much place for him in WWE to be honest.

This is true. Hopefully the guy tries FCW again and improves his game. If he gets better pretty quickly, then his natural charisma should get him back into the WWE. He reminds me of Cryme Tyme when they initially got released, although Cryme Tyme were undoubtably more over.

Tazz Dan 08-09-2009 08:06 AM

THANKS FOR MERGING MY THREAD WITH THIS ONE AND MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A DICK.

Mr. Nerfect 08-09-2009 08:10 AM

Dan, with your sig, you could never look like a dick.

Tazz Dan 08-09-2009 08:24 AM

Noid, you have made my evening.

Volare 08-09-2009 08:48 AM

A happy Tazz means no apocalypse here on the forums.

Tazz Dan 08-09-2009 09:03 AM

Volare knows. :y:

Mr. Nerfect 08-09-2009 09:10 AM

My only problem with you, Dan...only problem...is that you introduced those sigs to me before I have fully mastered the ability to enter images on the internet and create a disconnected universe where they are more than interactive.

NoRoolz 08-09-2009 09:38 AM

Make more threads Tazz Dan, I don't see that sig nearly often enough.

Afterlife 08-09-2009 10:04 AM

Ricky Ortiz was crap. His hair and his stupid pants had nothing to do with him as a character, and they were both ridiculous. And the towels...what the hell is that? And this guy, with track pants, Terrible Towel rip-offs, and a god damn Rooney haircut...is a motivational speaker? What the hell does any of this have to do with anything? They're all just disconnected elements, slapped onto one guy who obviously doesn't care about presentation. And like Noid said, his finish was a splash. Called "The Big O". What the motherfucking fuck? This guy is like a human junk drawer. There is no depth, meaning, or simple consistency in whatever the hell he is, so nobody's going to notice that he's even gone.

Afterlife 08-09-2009 10:05 AM

And rep to anyone who understands the Rooney reference.

Volare 08-09-2009 11:31 AM

Wayne Rooney from Man U?

Evil Vito 08-09-2009 12:14 PM

What's interesting is that last week I read a report that Ortiz was wrestling a returning Eugene at a house show, and that they would probably feud when Eugene was brought back to TV. Guess not.

Maybe they decided nobody wants to see Nick Dinsmore come back as a retard.
