RAW & Smackdown lights
 

Always wanted to know why the WWE started doing this maybe since the start of the brand extension. Is there a reason why part of the crowd during matches is under a red light (RAW) or blue light (Smackdown) ?

And wouldn't blue lights cause depression-like effect while watching a match in the crowd ?

Raw is a red brand

Smackdown is a blue brand

They have always been defined by these colours

During almost every RAW or Smackdown match, part of the crowd is shown under a ble or red light. Was there ever a reason why WWE does this ?

I think they have been doing this since the start of the brand extension period.

Velocity used to be under green too, I believe.

I've noticed this before also, I just put it down to the whole brand extension.

Makes sense really watching a smackdown match would make me depressed too...Then again im a big Raw fan!

Well thats personal opinion, i just feel that smackdown can sometimes have better matches but the better draws are on RAW (with the obvious exception of John Cena - who i just don't like) Plus im a big HBK fan and the guy will only work the A show smackdown will always be the dumping ground and ecw the feeding territory.

well in my opinion Smackdown is the A show. better matches, better writing, better wrestlers, etc. don't get me wrong I do like RAW but it lost its momentum. as far as better draws I would say it's about even.

They did it because they wanted to put all focus on the ring. Kinda like any stage play where the center always has the light and everything else is background.

What are the ECW lights?

Purple I guess?

I think they just leave the lights off in that section since ecw's main color is black

it works well on video to cause seperation from the background. It make the scne look more theatre like. Also the super stars are in color where as the fans appear unspecial in almost monochrome.
