Spoilers: yes or no.

In a further attempt to get Kris P Lettus to address something other than the same disected point he keeps reiterating, I am going to gague how we feel about this spoiler bollocks and see how WE feel about it. the regular posters here, since it is US this place was created for.

So, Private poll. Are you for or against it? Not that it will bear any significance on any actual change, since Kris P Lettus has spent days proving he doesn't care about the thoughts of the posters he moderates.

I fully know I am blowing this out of proportion, but I am bored, and I think this whole situation is bullshit, and I am just curious really.

Sixx 08-11-2009 07:35 PM

I'm not from US, therefore I like them spoilers because there is no way I can watch UFC live.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-11-2009 07:45 PM

It's an mma forum where like 11 people post, if you come here you should really expect people to post results. I mean really.

CSL 08-11-2009 08:46 PM

Pretty sure Krispy wouldn't have had any problems/not edited Rob's post/not even mentioned spoilers had he seen the event live :-\ It's common sense to stay out of the MMA forum with the aforementioned 11 active people after a show if you don't want it spoiled for ya, posting videos or not.

McLegend 08-11-2009 08:52 PM

When TPWW spoils an event for me it's my own fault.

I truly care don't either way though

Reavant 08-11-2009 08:59 PM

i read the poll too fast and clicked yes, but my actual answer is no

Loose Cannon 08-11-2009 09:03 PM

like I said before, I stay away from internet and ESPN when I miss a fight. when I see a fight, I actually like the fact that we can have an open discussion without rules. To me, Spoilers are only for shows that were taped before they air live

Funky Fly 08-11-2009 10:13 PM

All I'm saying is it's the internet. Shit will be spoiled for you. To combat this:

SPOILER: show
we have spoiler tags. Please use them.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-11-2009 10:27 PM

I don't know what the rule on spoilers is so I don't know how to vote, but that's really irrelevant since I don't post in this forum.

However, it seems to me the people who are ok with spoilers bring up good points. That being said, how lazy and inconsiderate are you that you can't take the 4 seconds to add spoiler tags so as to not ruin something? It's common courtesy.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-11-2009 10:30 PM

Regardless of what you as an individual think, it's clear that some people get upset when they have things ruined for them. It can ruin their night. I doubt anyone has gotten anywhere as close to equally upset when they were adding spoiler tags.

Fuckin' thank you.

Nark Order 08-11-2009 10:59 PM

Well, it would be one thing if Rob had popped into some random thread in casual and was like "Anderson Silva WTFPWNED Forrest's face!!". He was in the MMA forum in a thread about Silva/Forrest. Come the fuck on now.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-11-2009 11:05 PM

I think if the thread has that little *Spoiler* notification in it that should be good enough.

I really don't even know the story so why am I even talking?

I would also like it if someone could give me a single good reason to be looking at the substance of an MMA DISCUSSION FORUM, when you haven't seen the fights, which are the main reason for an MMA discussion forum, but don't want to know anything about the outcomes until they have seen it.

Eternal daily rep for anyone who can make a good argument.

Noted.

Smooth, BTW. :y:

Kris P Lettus 08-12-2009 01:39 PM

The rule as it stands now is, keep "spoiler" type posts in marked threads or use spoiler tags outside of said threads, THE NIGHT OF AN EVENT.. This will keep the posting up for people who haven't seen the fights or are coming here to see them from being spoiled..

Supreme and Funky got it spot on..

Stickman 08-12-2009 01:43 PM

I think when discussing something that's going on live or possibly within a day or two of something, putting Spoiler in the title would make sense.

However, I think common sense says if you dont' want to be spoiled, dont' go to a forum especially one that is talking about the live event.

A lot of the times I dont' want to be spoiled but I come here to find a video of the fight and know the result by the time I find a video.

Long story short, I dont' care.

Fabien Barthez 08-12-2009 01:48 PM

But what do you have to post about after the fights, if not the fights?

What is wrong with not coming here until you see the fights?

If you want, I will post the fight vids, since I watch every show live. I won't have to 'kill time' and find myself getting results 'spoiled' for me, by reading threads about the fights I haven't seen.

Please, as one man to another, just say for the first time that the fight got spoiled for you, because you acted without a modicum of common sense. That is all I want. Man the fuck up! I want to respect you, but the way you are just ignoring all criticism and the only point you keep giving is about how hard it is to post spoiler tags is stopping me from having any chance of doing so.

last point, then I'm out for the night and you have about 5 hours to say whatever you like, unretorted. The only people to vote yes, by my guessing is you, Funky and Reavant, by accident. Not one regular user of this forum has backed this rule. How do you justify it's existance? Why would majority rule not be the democratic option here?

mmashare.com. Watch the fights there, THEN come here to talk about it.

Simples. :)

I was in the wrong..

To expect the posters here to, you know, actually follow the rules and guidelines set up for this forum..

The Mask 08-12-2009 01:58 PM

as long as the title of a thread isn't a spoiler i don't much care.

Kris P Lettus 08-12-2009 02:01 PM

I'm over it, as I told you two days ago.. If y'all want to post spoilers all willy nilly, go for it.. Just don't expect me to make an effort to keep up to date video posted and whatnot..

ct2k 08-12-2009 02:15 PM

I don't even post in the MMA forum but I gotta weigh in anyway because this whole thing is hilarious. Like Supreme said, what is wrong with just putting a spoiler tag in? It takes you like two seconds.

Is it that much of a concession to the vast sprawling TPWW bureaucracy that it really merits all this attention? I mean if posters on both sides of the Atlantic abide by the rule what is the problem?

Come on guys

Reavant 08-12-2009 03:57 PM

Honestly I dont care either way, but you came into a thread about a match in which you made a bet with another poster about the outcome. He won so of course he was going to be gloating about it.

If he were in the diaz/pot thread and posted the results, I agree you should use spoiler tags, but he was in the thread that he bet you on.

If you want to designate threads with spoilers or use tags, fine i dont care, but seriously how dumb are you to go into a thread about a match where you bet on the outcome after you know the fight was potentially over and then get mad about spoilers?

I didnt see what Rob did so I cant comment, but from the sound of it, he was very immature about the whole thing as well.

Again Im not trying to argue one way or the other, but all I want to know is, did you honestly think that going into the thread where you had a bet with ROB that he wouldnt be gloating on the win or bitching on the loss in the thread? I mean seriously its almost as you went in there intentionally to piss him off.

Fabien Barthez 08-12-2009 07:02 PM

He won't respond to the notion of him being a moron in the first place. He just says the same thing repeatedly. Everything you say is spot on correct though.

That is the only reason this keeps going, because he hasn't made a single post that even suggests any error on his behalf, and he hasn't and won't mention the fact that as a result of this, and based on the opinions of all the regular posters here, that the rule doesn't belong.

Out of the 4 yes votes thus far, I can safely presume that one is Funky Fly, one is Kris P Lettus and one is Reavant, who voted wrong. Which more or less proves that Kris P Lettus has this rule in place, purely to suit Kris P Lettus.

In a glancing point, you talk about posting vids and stuff, I have never seen you post post PPV match vids before, and the one time you do do it, it was like 6 hours after MMAshare. Here's an idea, get rid of that MMA streams thread, as it is making it simple as fuck for the suits to search 'MMA streams', find that thread and systematically shut them all down (a great service to the MMA community) and replace it with a thread with a link to mmashare in it. You never need to be 'killing time' on here, during or just after shows 'waiting for the vids' so you can post them. That link is a proven better service than the one you provide.

Doing it your way is like buying weed. You can only get it off your dealer in 20 bags, because he won't let you know his connection who sells it by the oz, for less money.

And when the show is on, there will be a dedicated thread to the PPV no doubt, and if people have a stream, they just post, like I did for WEC42, 'stream if anybody wants it'. And if someone posts 'yes, can I have the link?' You PM or rep it to them.

That would be implementing rules and guidelines that are in the interests of the posters here. They are guidelines that would be doing a service to the MMA community. People get to watch the shows, with reduced chances of the streams being closed, and they get to watch the fights after the show as soon as they become available. Let's see you make a poll to ask those whom you moderate if that's a good or bad fucking idea. Let's see if my idea's have more than 15% popularity, and I won't even vote myself to bump the numbers.

So, which single sentence out of all that are you going to selectively respond to?

Savio 08-12-2009 09:54 PM

damn voted yes

I think if its in the thread labeled about the fight it shouldn't matter.

Also
SPOILER: show
Silva def Griffin

Fabien Barthez 08-14-2009 09:46 AM

What's that you say Kris P? Oh. It's fuck all. Shocking.

Your rule has been firmly voted against btw. Are you doing anything about it?

Funky Fly 08-14-2009 10:58 PM

I have not voted. I'll even post a screenshot if you don't believe me. All I want is for people to post spoiler tags so none of this shit happens again. It's what I said before this big blow up (immediately after Rob's edited post in the original thread, if you care to check) and it's what I'm saying now.

If you think there is a chance someone might throw a bitchfit, do it.

Smell E Fan E 08-14-2009 11:08 PM

Nobody wants spoiler tags by the looks of things except two of you.

Funky Fly 08-14-2009 11:11 PM

I mention the tags because it's great for everybody.

1. If you want to post recent results, you can without fear of backlash.

2. If you want to browse the forum, you can without fear of seeing results you didn't want to see.

3. Everyone stops pissing and moaning, so it's a lot less of a headache for me.

Nark Order 08-17-2009 01:00 PM

This was never about spoiler tags though. This was about common sense regarding spoiler tags. If I'm going into a thread completely unrelated to the fight and I spoil the fight, then I'm being a fucking prick. If I go into the thread about the fight and talk about the fight then I'm talking about it in a place THAT WAS MADE for the purpose of talking about it. I don't really see where everyone else is coming from here. If you didn't want the fight spoiled for you, why in the hell would you go into a thread about the fight? That's fucking ridiculous. I think that's the main argument here.

Nark Order 08-17-2009 01:14 PM

I'd also like to point out that Zeeboe spammed casual for well over a month before he was finally banned. And that was every single day and in MUCH larger amounts. Where were our hero mods then when THAT was all going on?
