How do you feel about Asher Roth?
 

I think he's pretty solid. "I Love College" does a pretty good job of describing...college. "La Di Da" shows he can get deeper. "Lark On My Go Kart" is just a nice little head bopper with some nice wordplay. Some of his songs get a little corny, like "She Don't Want a Man', but overall, I'd listen to a second album of his.

Thoughts?

When I first heard "I Love College" I thought it was a parody or satire. If I went to a party and heard that song playing I would think it's about as hip as wearing a t-shirt to a concert of the band you're going to go see.

Is that all you've heard from him?

Over hyped because he sounds like Eminem. Atleast he doesn't use an auto tuner.

People still listen to hip hop?

I think the kid has potential. Not the greatest I have ever heard, but at least he is shining the light on rhyme skills and word play, rather than hooks and club anthems.

I don't even think he sounds like Eminem. I mean, they're both clearly white, but that's about it. Really, Eminem doesn't even sound like Eminem with all those stupid fucking voices on his newest album.

I heard one other song. The beat was good, but I don't remember anything he said. After I Love College, I wasn't really interested in giving him the benefit of the doubt.

its true, i do. Honestly though, I Love College is a decent song, but youd have to tap into the other (ie not plastered on MTV...or VH1...or whatever) songs on the album to get into it. I will say he does sound similar to Eminem, older Eminem, which i find to be BETTER Eminem. But yes, Lark on my Go Kart, great little song. I also suggest Sour Patch Kids, Bad Day, and La Di Da. LISTEN!!!!!! LISTEN!!!!! Look, if a black dude and mexican are vouching for a white rapper, you know its good.
