UFC 106 Main Event Rumor
In addition to Tito Ortiz vs Mark Colemen we will see Brock Lesnar defend against Shane Carwin.
Apperently UFC is set to scratch Cain/Carwin in favor of doing this for a big headliner for the 106 show? |
no way... theyre going to have lesnar fight the winner of the carwin/cain fight at the new years eve show
nevermind i didnt realize ufc was doing some type of fight card every weekend from november to january
source?
Read it on MMA Madness, which has been pretty spot on with their rumors historically.
Also expect to see Fitch vs Almeida at 170
I hope it's true, I don't want to see Carwin/Cain yet and I think Lesnar will steamroll Carwin. Gives Cain some time to get better, and Lesnar as well.
There's plent of time to mix in a Carwin /Cain fight
I've heard Fitch V Almeida is almost 100% certain for 106 right now. As far as Carwin V Lesnar for the main event, I really don't see it happening. Carwin has only beaten (name wise) Gonzaga, he really needs to have at least one more win before facing Lesnar imo. Guess we'll see...
In other news Wanderlei is apparently out of any possible match at 105 (was rumoured to be facing Bisping) as he is (apparently) getting facial surgery...and could be out until next year. I can actually see BJ Penn facing Diago Sanchez as the main event for 106 right now, since Penn has stated that he really wants to fight again soon since he's in such good shape. |
they should feed Penn to Lesnar after what he said about GSP.
We should feed you to Lesnar
Coleman/Ortiz is meh.. Lesnar/Carwin seems good. Truthfully, im stoked about Machida/Rua in October that im not even looking past that.
Ok, so Wanderlei is definetly out of 105. Also apparently Gilbert Yvel was one of the guys signed by UFC when Affliction folded...cool I suppose.
Alvarado: Coleman V Tito imo is pretty cool. Basically the two original GnP'ers and also a pretty solid way of seeing where each of them stand right now... |
But Carwin is UNDEFEATED
So is Richie Whitson
Carwin hasn't beaten anybody of note outside of Gonzaga, he's dead.

rothwell to replace carwin against valasquez

I wouldn't say he DESTROYED Gonzaga. I mean, yea, it was a decisive victory, but Gonzaga did take him down relatively easy (he just wasn't able to keep him down, obv). As a Lesnar fan, dunno whether or not to be "worried" as I haven't seen a Carwin fight before, save for the Gonzaga fight I just saw on youtube. |
he KOed gonzaga cold.... thats a destruction. Just looking at the result.
looking at the carwin/gonzaga fight i'd say he just got a little lucky if anything. was a nice shot but he hardly anderson silva'd the punch. doubt he could beat lesnar.
Anytime you're punching with the intent of knocking somebody out and you knock them out, it isn't luck.
Was just watching UFC 84 and I noticed Carwin does the same combinations and sticks his head out forward. I don't know how he is now but if he fights like that I'm sure Brock can beat him.

Nevertheless, it should prove to be an interesting matchup, given that Lesnar's chin is virtually untested, IMO. What's Carwin's wrestling like? |
Pretty similar credentials to Lesnar I believe. He's just abit older, and has bigger hands...I really can't see the fight going to a decision...
Carwin was a D2 national champ around the same time as lesnar. D2 is nowhere near as good as D1, in fact D3 is tougher than D2, but that doesnt mean lesnar would have beaten Carwin head to head either.
Well as an Australian I don't "get" alot of that wrestling stuff, so all I know is that he supposably has solid wrestling...dunno
yea hes good
Awesome
