Is it just me, or does SummerSlam look beautiful on paper?

I haven't gotten a chance to watch any wrestling since mid-June when I moved to Philadelphia for a job, but I'm moving back home on Saturday...just in time for SummerSlam. I'm not sure what's been going on storyline-wise, but all of the matches, save Khali/Kane, look like they have some awesome potential. Should I be preparing myself for a sick show or a vast disappointment?

thedamndest 08-20-2009 02:05 PM

Most of it looks good. I'm not really looking forward to DX/Legacy because in all likelihood Legacy will go down hard. Cryme Tyme v. Jerishow will probably be okay. Orton/Cena has been done to the point of I don't care who wins. That's pretty much the case with the entire Raw main event scene at this moment actually. But the other matches should be good.

Pardeep 619 08-20-2009 02:17 PM

Aside from the TLC match, everything else looks like it could easily have been booked on an episode of Raw. I am personally sick and tired of seeing Orton feud with Cena, DX vs Legacy could easily be a Raw main event match, all the rest is just filler.

LET'S GO ZIGGLER! *CLAP-CLAP, CLAPCLAPCLAP*

How is the MVP/Swagger feud going? What's the basis?

Anybody Thrilla 08-20-2009 02:18 PM

Cryme Tyme on PPV? What?

GD 08-20-2009 02:22 PM

1. Jeff Hardy is loved by fans of all ages.
2. Khali and Kane are two highly popular individuals in the Sub-Continent.
3. I am marking for Swagger as always.
4. The DX re-union is going to be a treat.
5. Cena is probably going to win the belt and send them fans happy back home.
It sure looks beautiful.

I'm pretty sure it started with Swagger being the All-American American and dissing MVP for going to prison.

The feud began around 2 months ago where they cut a good promo against each other. They then had a match a week or 2 later where Swagger won cleanly. The were both in the 6 pack challenge match for the US title at Night Of Champions, neither men got pinned nor did they have any heat with each other. The match was booked again on Raw this week but ended quickly due to DQ and now it is just a filler match on Summerslam.

Anybody Thrilla 08-20-2009 02:29 PM

Still solid filler, though. How was their first match? Pretty good?

Anybody Thrilla 08-20-2009 02:29 PM

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just excited to be able to watch wrestling again.

....and there goes my gayest post of all time.

DAMN iNATOR 08-20-2009 02:47 PM

Looks pretty sweet, Kane v. Khali aside...also, just a note, went to a local 7-Eleven in my area and scored a SummerSlam cup or w/e, the K² one, and they were listed as selling for $1.99 a piece, however, they were scrubbing the sidewalk outside or some such, and as such were trying to rush people out quickly, so they could finish or w/e, and so apparently the guy behind the counter keyed in the wrong size (all the collectibles are Super Big Gulp size, btw, if anyone didn't know), and I was able to score it for $1.49 instead, so after taxes, managed to save 53¢, which normally isn't something that big of a savings to brag about, but in this economy, every penny saved, definitely counts.

What about your posts talking about how you like to hang out at gay clubs?

Cool King 08-20-2009 03:01 PM

I'm a bit surprised that Regal hasn't been mentioned yet.

Regal actually has a world title match!

Sure, it may be for the ECW Championship, but it's still a major title in the WWE. So I'm looking forward to Regal's match with Christian, it should be good. The same goes for the Ziggler/Mysterio match. I can feel a Ziggler win, which would be awesome to see.

I'm also looking forward to just seeing Swagger. :D

lol, "world".

Cool King 08-20-2009 03:06 PM

Indeed.

Londoner 08-20-2009 03:36 PM

I'll be watching it online if there's a link, not fussed about ordering though.

Anybody Thrilla 08-20-2009 03:45 PM

I'm ordering it at home. You want to come watch it, TL?

Londoner 08-20-2009 04:03 PM

I think you live miles away from me, sadly!

Anybody Thrilla 08-20-2009 04:11 PM

Well, don't say I never asked.

Mr. Nerfect 08-20-2009 04:55 PM

William Regal actually looks like a threat to the title now that it looks like he might have some bad guys working for him.

I think it lasted about three minutes.

ImpactPlayer365 08-20-2009 08:25 PM

Regal is going to be awesome on ECW.

Shut up.

kareru 08-20-2009 09:20 PM

best matches of the night are going to be
regal vs christian
the big jericho vs cryme time
punk vs hardy tlc match ( if done correctly)

also what the fuck is up with the big show and jerichos music?

Droford 08-20-2009 09:26 PM

The only two matches I even remotely care about are Regal/Christian and the TLC Match. Regal/Christian will probably open the show and get about 7 minutes tops and the TLC Match isn't going to be that great because its just 1 on 1, but they will probably still end up killing each other which will make it memorable anyway.

No. Fuck you. I wasn't talking to you, ABT. I was talking to Xero.

GD 08-21-2009 03:05 AM

It's still a major World Heavyweight title.

DAMN iNATOR 08-21-2009 03:52 AM

Be that as it may, it would be absolutely wonderful if they don't use some lame-ass divas group activity thing as filler for the show as they have sometimes done in the more recent editions of SummerSlam (i.e., volleyball, etc.)...

I know exactly who you were talking to. I was just asking you to shut up.

GD 08-21-2009 10:25 AM

I am pretty sure they don't have “Lame” asses.

Anybody Thrilla 08-21-2009 10:36 AM

Shut up.

Afterlife 08-21-2009 10:43 AM

I care more about Kane/Khali than Orton/Cena. In fact...Orton/Cena is the most boringest thing about the card.

So does Communism. :shifty:

Mr. Nerfect 08-21-2009 12:54 PM

My only problem with Summerslam, is that the logical booking outcomes seem to favour heel decisions. That makes me wonder if we're going to get a few forced booking scenarios where faces go over just to balance things out. Something like that can cause a bit of a mess to clean up.

DAMN iNATOR 08-23-2009 09:12 AM

I don't care what happens with Punk/Hardy for the WHC, so long as the WWE title doesn't end up in Cena's evil mitts by the end of tonight.

Londoner 08-23-2009 09:21 AM

Tell you what, seeing blood in the TLC match will make the PPV for me! :D

DAMN iNATOR 08-23-2009 09:24 AM

IF there is any...and even then, what's the point of having it if all you're gonna do is either make it unnoticeable or put however much of the match in some sort of B&W filter? No thanks.

Why you gotta bitch about everything? What you're bitching about hasn't even happened, so take a relaxative and just watch the damn show.
