And as always, Wee Gooner is a dick.

Skippord 08-30-2009 12:39 AM

gonna go with Gladiator cause I'm too stupid to understand Big Fish

Jeritron 08-30-2009 12:39 AM

I like Gladiator but I think it's a tad overrated. It's very stoic and I don't care for any of the characters the way I do in Big Fish.

I think Big Fish is a bit underrated. It reminds me of the type of stories my Grandmother used to try to pass off to me. I appreciate the fable meets reality aspect of it. It's definitely Tim Burton's best film.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-30-2009 12:48 AM

I've never been one to jump on the Ewan McGregor bandwagon, but Big Fish is a fantastic film. Also I think I have a bit of a man crush on Billy Crudup.

Jeritron 08-30-2009 01:10 AM

Billy Crudup is awesome

I take this back. Ed Wood is the best, or tied.

Rammsteinmad 08-30-2009 06:05 AM

I actually haven't seen Big Fish, so I'm going with Gladiator.

YOUR Hero 08-30-2009 11:56 AM

Gladiator

thedamndest 08-30-2009 05:37 PM

I liked Big Fish better. I'd be repetitive if I said that I just didn't like Gladiator that much, so instead I'll talk about Big Fish. It's got characters, tall tales,, fantastic images, a great ensemble, pretty much the whole package. It gets my vote.

It also might be one of the few movies that meets or exceeds the expectations of the book, though I believe quite a bit was altered. It's been a while. It's a quick read and very much worth it.

XCaliber 08-30-2009 06:52 PM

Big Fish since it was simply just the more enjoyable film of the two.

The Gold Standard 08-30-2009 07:01 PM

Gladiator. Never saw Big Fish, so I can't vote for it.

wwe2222 08-30-2009 09:41 PM

I really like both films.

However I went Big Fish here. I love all the tall tales and characters he meets along the way, plus the ending gets me everytime.

Lock Jaw 08-30-2009 09:56 PM

I haven't seen Big Fish, but remember loving the trailers and really wanting to see it.

Seth82 08-31-2009 12:50 AM

Went with Gladiator as I too haven't seen Big Fish

Jeritron 08-31-2009 01:21 AM

Why do you guys who haven't seen both films openly admit it and then vote? How can you possibly have an opinion on the better movie if you've only seen one?

muffalufagus 08-31-2009 02:11 AM

Gladiator. Are you not entertained!?

KYR 08-31-2009 02:54 AM

Gonna go with Wee Gooner is a dick.

I mean seriously. Have lived virtually next door to him for the last two years and haven't seen hide nor hair of an invite to the pub in all that time.

lol, am I the only one who see's that as a bit of a "well yeah DUH" kinda moments?

I mean Marcus Aurelius was a pretty major Stoic philosopher as well as being Emperor, that much is alluded to in the film in fact.

Jeritron 08-31-2009 01:46 PM

Yea but as a result it's not as personal. That's what I was getting at. Gladiator is an amazing movie, but at the end of the day I prefer the characters of Big Fish

ct2k 08-31-2009 02:05 PM

Big Fish was brilliant from what I remember, only seen it the once, very 'emotional' ending too.

I went for Gladiator in the end cos I dunno, I fucking love it. Agree that it feels a little 'cold' sometimes, but I think that is due in part to the storyline as well as the characters. It isn't exactly a joyful movie. But still one of my all time favourites.

The Jayman 08-31-2009 02:37 PM

Gladiator

Loose Cannon 08-31-2009 02:49 PM

I've never seen Big Fish, so I cannot vote. I kind of keep avoiding that film. I see it in Blockbuster all the time just staring at me saying, come on dick, rent me. But then I rent some action movie like 13 Blocks staring Bruce Willis.

I think Big Fish will bore me. dunno

Droford 09-01-2009 03:04 PM

The new Gladiator Blu Ray sucks ass.
