So..they are setting up their trade in system..however, you require the original packaging? the games can be as old as imaginable. At that point, isn't it better to just sell your game on Ebay if it is old and still in the package?

I think this article is underselling how much is available on eBay, packaged or otherwise.

People that have older games in the original package will probably still sell on eBay where they will get a better price. I'm thinking this will appeal to kids/parents who have a bunch of PS2/Wii games and whose parents don't want to go through the hassle of doing eBay for them.

They are seriously non-existent in Georgia sans-Gamestop. Probably a few in Atlanta, but I never saw any while I was there.

Kind of gets on my nerves, honestly.

Because I would honestly spend countless hours scouring for nostalgia, and I'm prone to impulse-buying if the deal is right. I frequent torrents for nostalgia, but that's because its really the only place I can look besides Ebay and Amazon. I will pull the trigger occasionally (waiting on Blitz 2000 for PC atm...call it an obsession), but what I wouldn't do for some local stores with old PC games and the like.

Im actually the manager of the electronics department at a toys r us and the one bad thing about the trade in thing...besides the fact that its already failed once before...is that most of the stores arent even selling used games.

When buy the game in we send it off to get refurbished and everything and never see it again. Hopefully one day we will start to sell them and I know I have heard that few locations are actually selling the used games. Perhaps if we could sell some we would finally sell our last 4 gamecubes.

Toys R Us has announced its nationwide roll-out of its new video game trade-in program. According to Joystiq, Toys R Us will not be selling used games to the public, but instead will sell them to a third party. CAGs prim4444 & cheeky tell us that this third party is Gamers Factory. Trade-in values listed on the Gamers Factory website should be very close to what you receive in-store. Here are the important details on the trade-in program:

• Games must be in their original cases and include the manual
• Games can be scratched, but not cracked and customers may only trade-in 3 of the same title
• Maximum $1000 trade-in per day
• Games should be brought to the Toys“R”Us Guest Services desk
• Customers receive an activated gift card equal valid at Toys“R”Us, Babies“R”Us or online at Toysrus.com
• Games from classic systems are accepted, although CAG vwbeetlvr tells us these trade-in values range from $0.25 to $0.50
