Modern Warfare 2 Continuous Tournament - ROUND 1 (Registration Open)
 

OK, so I was floating this idea while I was writing up the next round in the Street Fighter 4 Tourney. Once a champion was crowned, it would be NEAT to always be battling for the top spot. Like an ongoing season.

But Street Fighter 4's popularity is starting to dwindle down and even if we did do it, only like 4 of us would really take it seriously. But MW2 is a different story I think even people who don't own a 360/PS3 will be buying it.

HOW IT WORKS:

-...I don't know yet. The idea is that we will all be seeded and we would battling for the top spot once a week. BUT 1 vs. 1 would get kind of lame so I'm thinking teams of 2 MAYBE 3 if theres enough participants

PROS:

- Everyone talks shit about how great they are in COD4. This way, theres a system to RECTIFY that.

- Call of Duty will never die. Well, not MW2. WAW will die, but that's different. So this will be AT LEAST all year round.

CONS:

- It's difficult to set up a time between you and someone else. But with 4 people? Might be near impossible. You never know though, people love this game.




So in my head I have 6 teams of 2 (maybe more), trying to get to the top spot. 2 vs. 2 OR IF WE GET ENOUGH PEOPLE 3 vs. 3. I also think the match varients should VARY like every 3 weeks or so. Like we wouldn't go all year round just playing deathmatch. We'd have best of 7's in WAR, S&D, other shit. TPWWers only. The #1 spot would have to defend their title once a week probly. Maybe once every two weeks. The more matches you play, the higher up you move in the seedings or something like that.


Look, just trust me. I have the blueprints set out in my head. I would just need to know who is in. I know there should be A LOT more interest in this than in Street Fighter.

I think the only thing standing in the way is getting all 4 on at the same time. But this game is like crack so most of us will be on. Especially during launch.

Also, don't call your teams just yet. Just sign up first and then we'll go from there.

So far me, G, Diesel Mac, and Blitz are in even tho he didnt say he was in.

The list of potential people to sign is really huge. Basically everyone who posts in the vg forum. And then some.

Alvarado52 is always usually online so I'll try to get him in too.

Um, yeah they do. I will still play World at War even after MW2 comes out. For a little change of pace. And the fact that I've bought all 3 map packs for it.

I play COD4 all the time. Just played against FA last week.

I'd say more people play COD4 than WAW. I know I do.

We all have good matches and bad. Sometimes I have like 8 kills and 20 deaths, sometimes 25 kills and 5 deaths.

Pretty much the same here. Usually do somewhere in between that. Think the best I ever did was 42 kills and 16 deaths. Wasn't even on headquarters either.

I had like 41 kills on domination once but we still lost because the rest of my team wouldn't help capture any flags. Hate that.

Yeah, once and a while in headquarters I'll be a sniper, but I go to a spot where I can pick off the other team running for the flag, or guys sniping our team near the flag. So I'm at least contributing to the objective.

People who jut camp in a random spot to get kills need to get booted tho.

I love objective games in any shooter above simply deathmatch, but the whole of most communities don't seem to grasp the notion of... doing something other than killing. Happens in Halo all the time.

I like Hardcore Headquarters too. You can't just keep chucking grenades with friendly fire on.

Just browsing through the leaderboards of everyone on my buddy list and here are people who have put in a substantial amount of time for this game and are going to be in this whether they like it or not:

Hell, even Triple A is down there. This list doesn't include people who aren't on my buddy list. I know Gertner plays hardcore. And I bet Narc will play too. Not including newbie who join the boards...

Yeah I'm using my little brothers copy to get ready for MW2. I'd definitely be down for this too.

Count me in on this. Sounds like it could be fun. Also like the idea of doing a deathmatch tourney of sorts too, as thats more up my alley. Team work is for the gays.

Trying to figure out how the win/loss and matchups would work.

I'm thinking you can only challenge a team withen 3 spots of yours.

And then maybe a points system. 2 points for a win, 3 for a championship win/defense. And priority to those who have played less chamionship matches.

Like it would look like this:

RoXer1/sgand: Win-Loss (Championship wins-Championship losses)

And I dunno, maybe the LESS championship matches you've played, the higher you are to promote new blood.


Basically it will work like the BCS and I am the super-computer. But I'll be fair and explain my rankings each time. There shouldnlt be a big problem since we'll have a poins system though.

I wouldn't overly complicate things, be hard enough just getting TPWW together for a game.

A points sytem wouldn't work anyway for what I was thinking of.

It'll just be win as much as you can, play whenever it you want. Real open ended. The only thing is you can only play people 2 spots above or below you. So if you're #5 you can only play #3,#4,#6, or #7. And you lose the championship, you get knocked down to the middle of the pack.
