Console-less Guitar Hero coming?

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/102/1024689p1.html

September 14, 2009 - During the Deutsche Bank Securities Technology Conference this afternoon in San Francisco, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick gave a presentation on the future outlook and potential growth of the games industry. During the following Q&A session, Kotick was asked about the possibility of Guitar Hero, and other titles, going solo, meaning players would not have to play the game through one of the many consoles available, and simply plug or stream the device directly to the television.

Kotick admitted this is something they are considering, and with the advancement of technology with high-end televisions that allow 1080p streaming of video and digital audio, its only a question of time.

Kotick explained the business possibility this presents, which will allow for better business opportunities for additional song downloads.

"I think what the untethered Guitar Hero does is it maybe equals the playing field a little bit more and gives you leverage with first parties on downloadable content and the business model," he said.

While Guitar Hero is an easy choice for such an idea, expect other titles to follow suit.

"But you should expect to see many of our products to be playable on the television independent of a console," he added.

Kotick was quick to point out, however, the value of today's consoles, saying they still provide enhanced online experiences and better production value, so "there's a lot more life left in the ones we have."

Are you ready to buy even more plastic guitars?

This article is fucking gay. No information passed, no debate arisen. Just text fluff. It's like water cooler conversation treated as news. (no offense to the OP)

Thats basically how IGN has been last 4 - 6 years (give or take a few). The website grew too huge in my opinion and they don't do enough actual news to fill it like before.

Don't forget the proprietary HDD to buffer the stream. 200 MB for 50 dollars.
