TNA releases Jim Cornette

- TNA released BG James today. James had been working as an agent and had been receiving good reports from the talent. James has been with the company for almost the entire existence of TNA.

- TNA has also released Jim Cornette. Cornette has been working in the production truck at the Impact tapings lately as well as helping out the younger talent. Cornette has been with the company since 2006.

ministrychick77 09-16-2009 12:40 AM

what? why would they do that?

unless angle's taking over, which will suck

thecc 09-16-2009 12:41 AM

Cornette in roh. fuck!

DAMN iNATOR 09-16-2009 12:42 AM

I think they probably chalked up Cornette's release to creative differences between him and Dixie Carter or something like that, although I don't pay all that much attention to ANYTHING TNA so I could be wrong, but that's what I thought I had heard about that situation.

Skippord 09-16-2009 12:59 AM

Come on Cornette to ROH

ron the dial 09-16-2009 01:01 AM

i want to hire jim cornette to manage my every day life

Skippord 09-16-2009 01:03 AM

I'd watch that. Especially if I get to see your sister a lot.

That'd be one hell of a stable.

i'd imagine my sister avoiding jim cornette at all costs.

thecc 09-16-2009 01:12 AM

Cornette appearing in ROH under Pearce's booking could be horrible.

FourFifty 09-16-2009 01:25 AM

TNA released Jim Corneete? Wow, you can almost hear their last shred of credibility as a wrestling promotion fade away.

DAMN iNATOR 09-16-2009 01:29 AM

Wait, 450. Did you just use the words "TNA" and "credibility" in the same post? If so, show me evidence of any "credibility" "TNA" has ever had.

Arashi Kage 09-16-2009 01:29 AM

I haven't seen Cornette since way back when he managed Yokozuna, Vader, and I think Owen Hart too.

If he came back to WWF, I would probably start watching wrestling occasionally again, just to see him on the mic. :y:

Love Weapon X's comment, I would also hire Cornette.

Skippord 09-16-2009 01:35 AM

just wondering DAMNi NATOR and 450 have you watched TNA recently?

DAMN iNATOR 09-16-2009 01:37 AM

I'm sure I would watch if it wasn't always so consistently God-awful.

Can't speak for Damn, but yea, and I'm not impressed.
I still can't get over some of their atrocious mainstays. The six sided ring, the PPV where every match is a cage match, the reverse ladder match that is reminiscent of setting up a game of Mouse Trap...

I'm not taking anything away from their talent. It's just in my eyes everything is horribly misused. I swear you can go into the writers' kitchens and they'll use hammers for can openers. Nothing is used properly.

Juan 09-16-2009 01:40 AM

I don't watch TNA, but from what I hear it's actually been ok lately.

Skippord 09-16-2009 01:45 AM

I'd say it's been very good

kareru 09-16-2009 01:52 AM

what the crap are they thinking?

jim cornette- fired
vince russo- still employed

According to sources, Jim Cornette and Vince Russo had butted heads in recent weeks and many people saw the situation as worsening. Cornette had been working in the production truck at the iMPACT! tapings lately as well as helping out the younger talent. Cornette has been with the company since 2006.

ron the dial 09-16-2009 01:54 AM

i'm confident that TNARick will get to the bottom of this after batmanofprowrestling receives his next e-mail from russo.

- According to Dave Meltzer, TNA's recent releases of Jim Cornette, Brian James, Savio Vega, and Dutch Mantel were all done as part of a larger plan to eliminate those in the company who were closest to Jeff Jarrett.
Sooooooo, how close was Russo to Jarrett?

Dave Youell 09-16-2009 04:10 AM

Getting rid of Cornette was flat out stupid.

I pray this leads the way for Heyman to come in, if they have got rid of Dutch, the only person in creative is Russo, and I fear for all of us if that is true, as I've actually enjoyed TNA alot recently

Mr. Nerfect 09-16-2009 04:21 AM

I look forward to seeing what Jim Cornette does next. The man has way too good a mind for the business to not find work somewhere. I also like that changes are coming in TNA. Now if we can just get rid of Russo, and bring in Paul Heyman.

Shadow 09-16-2009 04:31 AM

Corette was close to Jarret?

Not as close as Russo, which makes the decision all the more confusing

The Jayman 09-16-2009 09:36 AM

just when TNA was getting good..

Londoner 09-16-2009 09:40 AM

Fuckin wankers.

Waylander 09-16-2009 10:32 AM

I love Cornette, this is just one more reason for me to not watch TNA, not that I need another reason.

Savio 09-16-2009 10:46 AM

I remember cornette was the figurehead that wanted JOe vs Angle for all of the titles... so I welcome this change.

Theo Dious 09-16-2009 11:22 AM

I wish WWE would sign Cornette as an on-air talent only. He would make a great GM, or even lead a resurgence of actual managers.

Seth82 09-16-2009 11:51 AM

Maybe Jim will try and revive Smoky Mtn Wrestling

That'd be so fucking awesome

They made the biggest mistake by firing Cornette

Theo Dious 09-16-2009 12:26 PM

I'm no huge fan of Cornette's, but he was probably the best wrestling mind affiliated with TNA.

yea the only reason i see them booting cornette is they want heyman, an it has been over 3 years since cornette left wwe i can see him making peace with vince. i see him beang a raw guest host in the next few months.

I'm gonna take the Pidget's idea and go one step beyond that.
Let him write and book. The man knows WRESTLING. He would be a great counter balance to people who book and write sports entertainment.

The only reason I wouldn't want him booking WWE is that he's proven that he doesn't work well with them, and I doubt it would last. It would be like flying over a man crawling through the desert and dropping a gallon jug of water to him, then flying away.

Executioner 09-16-2009 06:12 PM

This thread needs more facepalm...

Juan 09-16-2009 07:44 PM

Jim Cornette made the following comment on his TNA release today over at his Cornette Collectables Facebook Page:

"Thanks everyone for your kind words but, we are REALLY OK about all of this. Gives us more time to make QUALITY products for Cornette's Collectibles and devote our time to wrestling we actually enjoy being apart of."

Bad Company 09-16-2009 08:10 PM

Cornette would be an amazing manager for Khali
