WWE®’s Linda McMahon Resigns to Run for U.S. Senate

World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. today announced that Linda McMahon has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer after announcing her candidacy for the United States Senate, representing the state of Connecticut. Vince McMahon assumes the duties of Chief Executive Officer in addition to his current position as WWE® Chairman. McMahon will be supported by the seasoned executive management team already in place and led by Chief Operating Officer and board member, Donna Goldsmith.

So how uninteresting will the WWE become now? There is no way they are going to do anything that could possibly hurt her chances.

I knew WWF was just a scheme to take the white house. Vince is using Linda to take over the united states so he can make Austins life a living hell and have him arrested!

Wait? Linda's gone? Does this mean the end of PG sometime soon?

With her running for senate? I highly doubt it.

The question is..for whatever she is running..does she have a chance of winning?

I disagree with Haze. Since she's no longer part of the company I don't think she can be held accountable for what goes on in it.

But seriously, I doubt we'll see the end of all the problems. Cena will still be shoved down our throats, DX will still do their thing, and nothing will change overnight. However, the journey of a million miles all begins with one step.

I cant wait for all the "McMahon hopes to lay Smackdown on Washington" headlines and "McMahon wont stay down on the mat" jokes the media will use.

"Senate race shaping up to be a real battle royal"

I love how she doesn't mention what that company is.

But the fact that she is mentioning the company non-stop means PG aint stoppin anytime soon

That reminded me of those Sean O'Haire promos. Was expecting to hear "But I'm not telling something that you already know" at the end.

Also, I have her newest slogan:

"It's time Connecticut had a Senator who knows what it's like to take a Stone Cold Stunner."

She's just leaving the company in an official role. She's still sleeping with the Chairman.

I am sure that the shareholders will be watching this one closely to see if WWE money is used to fund Linda's campaign.

She's still Vince's wife. Even if she doesn't have a role in the company anymore, she is still going to be whispering in her husband's ear.

She's running on the GOP side of the ticket.

things won't be that easy unless her opponent does something extreamly stupid.

All of you who think this might end the PG stuff are either completely nuts or know nothing about politics.

She can probably win the GOP Primary but she doesnt stand a chance vs Dodd, though it would be awesome if she did.

/Wonders if Glenn Beck would vote for her since he's a citizen of CT...

If anything I would assume this would extend the "PG" nature of WWE.

Dodd's getting thrown out. No doubt about it. But I think 3 other republicans next to McMahon are also gunning for his seat.

In her website speech, she says the government is "Running up trillion dollar deficits - trillion with a T." Sorry ma'am, this is wrong. There is a trillion dollar national debt, but the annual deficit (last I checked a few months back) is ~$4 billion - with a B. Now, this is an absurd deficit, but it is not trillions. The DEBT is trillions.

Seriously, what the hell has this woman done to get any kind of serious consideration for this office? It's obvious that she knows very little about national policy, and her odds of beating a strong incumbent (Chris Dodd) are miniscule. But as someone who takes politics and governmente quite seriously, to see THIS woman running for office with any sort of legitimacy makes me detest what our political situation has become.

Sorry for the rant. Oh, and this is not going to change the PG - if anything, the product will be more watered down so as to not get Linda associated with anything obscene. She's running with the GOP, which means she's running on social issues alone - the nation has clearly rebuked 'conservative' fiscal policy for the time being (I say conservative in quotes because the current GOP policy is not conservative at all, but it is in the mainstream).

This is just stupid. So stupid.

Doink the clown will defeat Cena soon to become WWE Champ. Also expect to see the Divas dressed as nuns.

At least that's an improvement.
