The "buckle up, Teddy" segment from SmackDown! was hilarious

It was so bad that it approached a sort of cheesy good. It's this sort of thing that prevents me from liking The Undertaker, but this was just too good.

Londoner 09-19-2009 07:25 AM

Yeah, i surprisingly enjoyed that part. It was a pretty weak show overall though.

Swiss Ultimate 09-19-2009 09:05 AM

I'm glad someone enjoyed it.

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 12:09 PM

I'm glad they're trying.....uhhh....'new' things...but that was fucking cheesy as fuck. I couldn't believe they replayed it so many times. It was making me uncomfortable.

Also, I was fully expecting him to say "Where to, Steph?"

Evil Vito 09-19-2009 12:19 PM

I liked it BECAUSE it was ridiculous. Paranormal Undertaker can get away with pretty much anything in his storylines.

Much like Kane kidnapping people with no repercussions.

The Gold Standard 09-19-2009 12:24 PM

I couldn't stop laughing when I saw Teddy's face after The Undertaker turned around.

TheZman 09-19-2009 12:25 PM

It was funny because it was so bad. Much like those safety videos they show you when you start a new job.

Londoner 09-19-2009 12:25 PM

I'lld like to know, what happened to teddy? he 'dead' or something?

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 12:26 PM

And Teddy let out that little 'squeak', I guess you could call it.

I've always hated Deadman Undertaker because of stupid shit like this. Even when I was a kid, I thought he was lame as fuck outside of the Ministry and the American Bad Ass.

What kind of ratings would those safety videos pull in if they were to air on The CW?

He was taken to hell

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 12:27 PM

Teddy should have nutted up. He's the Undertaker's fucking boss, and if the Undertaker doesn't like his decision, he can find work elsewhere.

This one would bring monster ratings.

Where did his security go? Weren't the right outside the limo when Teddy got in?

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 12:28 PM

Also, why did Teddy Long and Scott Armstrong cut the exact same promo?

Logic doesn't belong in this conversation.

Yeah. I guess the smoke pouring out of the windows wasn't a reason enough to worry about the guy they had been 'protecting' all night.

Or him screaming "Help" at the top of his lungs with the window partly rolled down.

It never does with the Undertaker. Fuck that character.

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 12:32 PM

The Undertaker had to have known that Teddy wasn't acting on his own accord. He should have been kidnapping Vince, who was also in the building that night. Couple this with The Undertaker attacking CM Punk for no reason at all at Summerslam, and he looks like nothing but a big bully. This would all be acceptable (almost) if he were a heel.

JT 09-19-2009 12:32 PM

Just watched it on youtube. It was cheesy but still awesome. Would have been better if they ended it earlier.

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 12:33 PM

It would have been fine in 1991.

The Gold Standard 09-19-2009 12:36 PM

I think they should've made it be something with Punk and Teddy planning it the whole time. That would have kept the feud going. It will continue, but I think it would have been better.

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 12:37 PM

Have they announced Punk/Taker 2 for HIAC yet?

Watch next week. That's the point of a weekly episodic TV show.

Yeah, because that always works. I know Austin, Foley, and Matt Hardy all just went away quietly when they were fired...

If they were smart they'd go with someone else vs Punk and have Taker fuck it up somehow.

I'm just speaking logically. I'm not saying that's how it has gone every other time in WWE history.

That would make the most sense. Kidnapping the GM should not get you a return title shot, no matter how 'sorry' he is for fucking you over.

Who should they go with, though? Dumbass Batista?

But is there anyone else on SD to face Punk in a HIAC that would be able WWE can promote well? It has to be Taker.

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 01:01 PM

Batista could easily get the next shot. Easily.

screech 09-19-2009 01:05 PM

The segment reminded me of an "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" episode.

thedamndest 09-19-2009 01:11 PM

Let's also not forget the time Taker was hiding in the ambulance when Austin was strapped in the back. He is the master of hiding in vehicles.

I don't think that would make sense. Also, Vince could step in and give Taker the shot. He did warn Teddy about what The Undertaker could do.

Anybody Thrilla 09-19-2009 01:31 PM

If you were 6'10'', it'd be easy for you to hide in vehicles too.

What wouldn't make sense? Batista just got a 'big' win over Jericho. In a couple weeks time, he could easily do more to earn a shot.

All Batista needs is his Konami code.

...

My point is any direction they wish to go with it makes little sense to me.

thedamndest 09-19-2009 02:36 PM

Looks like Bats is going to grab a partner and feud with Jerishow for the next PPV. It isn't in the spoilers, but after Batista's match we saw Big Show backstage glaring at a monitor and saying Batista got lucky, but wouldn't be lucky NEXT WEEK.

Meanwhile, giving the Undertaker his Hell in a Cell rematch does make the most sense from the booking end of things and from a possible draw. From the storyline, Long has just screwed the Undertaker. He's pissed and wants Punk. Why have him wait another month? If they put someone else in and have Taker screw Punk, they create two PPV screwjob endings in a row. Also, Hell in a Cell is one of Taker's specialty matches. Why would keep him out of the cell when its available? Big missed opportunity keeping him off the card, especially when it's a Cell.

DAMN iNATOR 09-19-2009 10:39 PM

The only thing I found some sense of comedy in in that whole limo sequence was just the "stereotypical horrified look" that a lot of people get when they're extremely scared. Other than that, I see no reason why the hell they shouldn't have just found a better way to approach this, such as have Teddy apologize first to Vince and Undertaker, and then the audience in the ring, and then either have Vince:

A.) Tell him he's still on probation (MEH).
2.) Tell him he's not on probation anymore (Better than option 1, I suppose).
III.) Fire Him (He's been around forever anyways, and no offense, but to me he's just getting kind of stale...it could've even led to possibly a heel GM for SD!, which if they chose the right person for the "job", it could've been awesome. But I guess that may not happen).
