And House is awesome.

WTF?

thecc 09-20-2009 11:56 PM

Ed Ferrara is apparently on TNA creative now.

So, you mean that the "The Phenomenal" which precedes his name actually almost means something now?

Only person that assumed the PPV was bad was owenbrown. Everybody else was stating how TNA sucks in general.

Vastardikai 09-21-2009 12:17 AM

Cornette is gone from TNA.

That's all that needs to be known.

thedamndest 09-21-2009 12:17 AM

I will watch the PPV when you shut the fuck up and suck my dick.

thedamndest 09-21-2009 12:18 AM

Just kidding. I hope it was good.

No Surrender wasn't awful, but it certainly wasn't great either.

Highlights were the X-Division title match and AJ winning the strap. Other than that, it was a typical TNA pay per view.

The Show Off 09-21-2009 01:35 AM

I enjoyed it.

Skippord 09-21-2009 01:39 AM

The Pope should win the X Division title as soon as possible

Mr. Nerfect 09-21-2009 03:12 AM

Yeah, TNA's actually been OK lately. AJ Styles winning the TNA World Heavyweight Title almost makes me care. I know TNA recognise the NWA World Title's stint in TNA as part of the new belt's history, but I like to think of Styles now as the first true Grand Slam Champion of TNA (TNA World Title, X-Division Title, World Tag Team Titles and Legends Title).

The stuff that was good on the PPV was apparently really good, but the stuff that was bad was apparently really bad. Matt Morgan apparently looked like a beast.

RGWhat316 09-21-2009 07:14 AM

Angelina Love was writen off as a "business reason" and was actually wished well in her future endeavors. I thought they would have actually come up with something better than "oh shes not here anymore".

Luca Gracia 09-21-2009 07:25 AM

That is true. Nobody has the time to see tna programming. People can barely keep up with the wwe shows.

It was interesting when Styles, Daniels and Joe were running after the X belt. It lost it's appeal to me with the infilteration of so many so called "wraslin superstars".

I do follow the results but I don't have the time to see it.

Mr. Nerfect 09-21-2009 08:07 AM

Kurt Angle should have been their turning point. Angle working with guys like Daniels, Styles and Joe -- with no glass ceiling to keep those sort of talents down -- would have been the TNA audience's wet dream. But then Russo was brought in, and even if the guy does have good ideas sometimes, he's essentially your sports entertainment writer.

I want to cum thinking about what would have happened if Paul Heyman or Scott D'Amore had the book.

311 09-21-2009 09:11 AM

I thought it was terrible. TNA ring work is an absolute joke, the crowd is dead and reacts to almost nothing, the announcers dropped the ball on the title switch last night, terrible matches...horrible PPV. Last night after the PPV we switched over channels and watched some ROH...like night and day as far as ring work and storytelling goes.

Edit: Oh yeah, the entire thing had Russo stench all over it. I can't believe no one has mentioned how horrible of a "cash-in" Hernandez was booked to make last night. Also, Abyss getting the taser in the balls. ...ugh, honestly.

Yeah Noid, the good stuff was really good and the bad stuff was really bad. The iMPACT! episodes leading to this were far better than the end result. TNA tries to cram way too much gimmicky stuff on their pay per views and it comes off looking terrible.

A 20-minute backstage brawl for a feud that's just begun? A Lethal Lockdown match not at Lockdown for no reward? A match with a "bounty" that included a tazer to the crotch spot?

I like TNA, but their stuff is utterly ridiculous sometimes.

screech 09-21-2009 09:49 AM

And the Hernandez cash-in was so dumb. He earns a World Title shot, gets the case stolen, takes it back, and cashes in at the beginning of a fatal four-way? Really? And then he's only in the match for the first five minutes? Really?

screech 09-21-2009 09:50 AM

And of course, those awful split screens during the main event. They make it nearly impossible to know what the hell is going on in the match.

The Jayman 09-21-2009 10:22 AM

well i was glad to see Styles win the title

I can understand, sorta, why they'd keep the Legends Title on Nash. The belt has been switching around a lot lately, and he's a big heel for someone to beat for it down the line. That being said, I think Abyss would have made a good choice to win the belt here. Then do Monster's Ball at Bound For Glory with Abyss, Kevin Nash, Mick Foley, Dr. Stevie and possibly Rhino.

But, they can still get there with Nash keeping the title. Just have Dr. Stevie really get involved and be the one to soften Abyss up, which allows Nash to win the match with something less ridiculous.

As for Hernandez cashing in -- that was shit. They should have waited. They could have possibly pulled the trigger even at Bound For Glory after AJ Styles defeats either Kurt Angle or Sting -- whoever his opponent is. While Styles and Hernandez are both obviously faces, a feud between the two would no doubt be awesome. Plus, they'd have a good ring dynamic. And Hernandez could perhaps even work better as a heel than a face.

Did anyone else read the PPV recap at their website? It reads like it was written by a ninth grade English Comp student.

They have a wrestler with "head of christian church" gimmick?

They do not fail to amaze me.

The Show Off 09-21-2009 04:50 PM

I thought the Hernandez cash in was quite good, it did a number of things...

--Showed that Hernandez wants to earn his title win rather than going in the back door. So he cashes it in when 4 "top" wrestlers are in the ring to prove that he belongs in the main event. (Taz and Tenay actually made a good point of mentioning this on the broadcast).

--It showed that he does belong in the main event scene as he dominated Kurt Angle for the time that he was in the match.

--It furthered the Hernandez/World Elite storyline but Eric Young costing him his precious title shot (which also further establishes Eric Young as a viable heel threat)

--It didn't blow Hernandez's big title win on a stupid cash in (in wrestling in only worked well when Edge did it). They'll take there time and have his big title win mean something.

I would have prefered that Hernandez made the comback at the end of the match only for Eric Young to come out again to stop him, but they way they did it was pretty good.

The card was decent overall, enjoyable...

--The women's tag championship match was poorly done but with Angelina Love gone the right tag team won.

--Hernandez/Young was good in making Hernandez look like a beast but it made Eric Young look weak.... But that was corrected at the end of the night with Young costing Hernandez the title.

--Joe/Daniels was good as always... would have rathered Joe win in a more underhanded fashion, but oh well.

--Dinero/Suicide was cool, I don't care what anyone says.

--ODB/Dener was a decent comedy bit, it went a bit too long but thankfully they put ODB over.

--Nash/Abyss was a good way to put over the Nash character they're going for (just in it for the money guy) and to slowly build to the Foley/Abyss match that I'm sure will happen at Bound for Glory.

--The Leathal Lockdown was a really good match that solidly put over British Invasion and Beer Money without making Team 3D, Steiner, and Booker T look bad.

--Lashley/Rhino made Lashley look like a badass, but it should have gone longer to make Rhino look better (in the build of this feud I like Rhino the best since her first entered the WWF).

--The main event accomplished everything it should have.... It made everyone look good and furthered the builds to the Sting/Styles and Angle/Morgan matches at Bound for Glory. I think the "epic win" for Styles was a little too over done, but the match was good and is leading to something better.

Overall the card was a great way to lead into a major PPV...

Gertner 09-22-2009 01:30 AM

It was pretty bad. Half those matches should be been on Impact. Not ppv.

Which matches?

kareru 09-22-2009 11:20 AM

Dinero/Suicide was a cool match
so was the lethal lockdown match

although hearing that angelina love was future endeavored really put a downer on the whole ppv for me

Is that Dinnero?

screech 09-22-2009 12:57 PM

I think from a wrestling perspective, the PPV wasn't that great. Yes, Joe and Daniels put on a great match and the main event showcased Morgan as the beast he can be. Other than that, though, the ring action wasn't anything spectacular and seemed far too reliant on the gimmicks involved.

From a storyline perspective, it was great. The event did a very good job setting up the BFG card, and advancing the feuds.
