Best Mainstream songs as wrestler themes
Think of wrestlers past and present. If you could choose a mainstream song that would replace a wrestler's theme song that would be a perfect fit for their entrance and character, what would it be?
Here are a couple of my choices: Stone Cold Steve Austin = "The Clincher" by Chevelle The Rock (2003 heel) = "P.I.M.P." or "In da club" by 50 cent Sting (WCW Crow gimmick, when he wouldn't speak) = "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails |
Sting - Seek and Destroy. I do not even like Metallica but this song without vocals fit so well there.
|
Also, Ric Flair's theme of course.
|
Oh, holy fuck I didn't read the thread. Thought you meant the songs that were already used as themes.

Kerry Von Erich ~ Tom Sawyer by Rush
The Freebirds ~ Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd Terry Funk ~ Desperado by The Eagles Raven ~ Come Out and Play (Keep 'Em Separated) by The Offspring The Sandman ~ Enter Sandman by Metallica Ric Flair ~ The Wanderer by Dion (He briefly used this as tv music when he'd cut a promo in 1985 or 86) Ricky Steamboat ~ Sirius by Alan Parsons Project Kevin Von Erich ~ Stranglehold by Ted Nugent David Von Erich ~ La Grange by ZZ Top |

CM Punk - This Fire Burns by Killswitch Engage.
Not a fan of KE, but it suits him perfectly. |
Sheamus - "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" by Elton John (face) or by Nickelback (heel)
Jack Evans (not WWE but the name fits), Evan Bourne, Justin Gabriel, PAC, etc. - "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by The Rolling Stones (face) or by Motorhead (heel) Johnny Ace - "Sympathy for the Devil" by The Rolling Stones HBK - "Heartbreaker" by Pat Benatar The Usos - "Thunder Island" by Jay Ferguson Tons of Funk - "Low Rider" by WAR The Funkadactyls - "Got to be Real" by Cheryl Lynn Kaitlyn - "Lola" by The Kinks Layla - "Layla" by <del>Eric Clapton</del> Derek and the Dominoes because their rendition has way more energy than Clapton's later, sleepy solo performance, even though it's the same Eric singing. :) |
The Shield - "You're so Cold" by Breaking Benjamin
3MB - "We're an American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad Fandango - <del>"Blood on the Dance Floor"</del> "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder Summer Rae - "Dancing Queen" by ABBA |
I really don't see how WWE or the record companies could lose with such deals, as the older songs would appeal to the parents of the children WWE is trying to reach, whereas many of the kids would dig the classics of yesterday as totally new to them and probably buy a few songs from iTunes or the like.

After Snitsky killed Lita and Kane's baby, the Big Red Machine should have come out using Ben Folds Five "Brick".
|
It occurred to me that Warrior's WWE theme is the chugging guitar and bass of the bridge to Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker" with some added cymbal crashes. :)
|
"Have You Considered Having Sex With A Bearded Man" - The Beards - Daniel Bryan
|
Truth be told, I think that Daniel Bryan, Alberto Del Rio, Christian, The Shield and Randy Orton could all use new themes with some effort put in.
